Irritation.
Some things which have annoyed/are annoying me today:

1) Being used as the messenger service between Belmont and Durham. I am not your frickin' Hermes. CUT IT OUT.

2) I checked my emails to discover that our building manager (not a librarian) at Durham has put me on a course a week on Thursday. Now, I am pleased to be going on this course, because it's about the Summer Reading Challenge, is an annual thing in the summer holidays, (remember how I was a "reading coach" on the website for last summer's challenge?) but goddamnit why didn't he check with me first?! I am on annual leave that morning! (His response would probably be something about him "not being a details person". FFS.) Now, I want to go on the course, because it'll be good, but I'm not sure when else I can use up the rest of my AL; I'll still have 8 hours left to take and I'm only actually doing 4 full days between now and going away, and we're short-staffed as it is.
Which brings me onto...

3) Only having a part-time job. Seriously, just fuck that shit. I know I'm lucky to actually have a job in the current economic climate and all, but I want more hours!

4) Tonight at Belmont we had to kick out a bunch of fifteen year olds who were starting to cause trouble. They then decided to play jumping in and out of the doors. I sent them outside and when I turned round, I saw two of them crouched under the overlap below the issue desk. (We usually have a large box there with doggy poo bags, but we'd run out, so there was a big space.) I think it's fair to say I lost my shit with them. Then they stood outside but kept coming in and out of the furthest door, so we locked it. Then they started trying to climb onto the roof and kick/bang the door in, so we phoned the police. They didn't give a rat's ass, since the boys hadn't broken anything or hurt anyone yet, basically. (And this whole thing is precisely why I will never, ever, ever work at a branch that wants me to work alone.)

OH AND

5) I can't top my damn mobile phone up, because there was a problem with the website and now they've locked out my card or something. I get a message saying "try again in a few days". PISS OFF. I would like some credit on my phone today. >:-( Yes, I probably could trek down to the Carphone Warehouse and top up there, but I really can't be bothered. This is what I get for not using a major network like Orange or someone, I suppose. BAH.

In better news, I have tomorrow off, so I'll be making chocolate crunch, and preparing for the other course I'll be attending on Wednesday morning, over in Sunderland. (Oh my god I've never been to Sunderland city centre, they'll probably leave my car on bricks.)
