So. I have driven back to my mum's. The car sounds like some kind of chavmobile whenever I touch the gas; it's awful. It's also started making a horrible knocking sound when I start after having stopped. It is extremely disconcerting to hear a noise that sounds like pat of your car is about to fall off.
Tomorrow I will be getting up early and dragging our poor sorry selves to the garage, where the car, at least, can hopefully be fixed.
On the plus side, I should be getting my new dog tomorrow!!
Her name is Meg. Meg is 8 years old, some kind of mongrel who seems to have some Staffy in her. She belonged to a lady who knew a friend of my mum's. (phew!) Very sadly, Meg's owner died over the Christmas period, and I believe her family are far away and so can't/won't take the dog. My mum's friend took Meg in temporarily, where she has been living with 2 other dogs, a cat and a rabbit. However, owning these animals (plus 2 kids) my mum's friend can't really afford the extra expense of Meg, and has been looking to rehome her. My mum knew we were thinking of getting a dog, so asked us. We talked it over and said yes, please, so we're taking her on for a trial period of a couple of weeks to see how she handles living with us/The Bunners.
I am more concerned for Meg's well-being than the Bunners', because rabbits are quite territorial and Meg is very sweet and soft. The cat at my mum's friend's house apparently put her in her place the second she got through the door.
We'll be taking a very softly-softly approach and Meg will get heaps of praise every time she is calm and well-behaved with the bunnies. That said, we will not be leaving them alone and unsupervised at any time for about the next 8 years. :)
Now please send good (and more importantly cheap bill) vibes to my poor Ickle!
