Your shot at Hollywood fame. . . [14 Dec 2005|11:51pm]

filmphan
[ mood | sleepy ]

DEAD GIRLS CLUB.COM is the headquarters for the major Hollywood feature film set for filming this coming spring. At the website, they are in the process of searching for a young actress and actor ages 15-mid 20's who can play a high school senior. The winner will be flown with a guest to Los Angeles to film their role in the movie.

The secret to this competition is that America will be picking the young actor and actress from entries posted on the website in February. So your chances of getting a featured role in the film will be determined by the number of entries. And of course, there will be national exposure to anyone who is carried into the quarter finals of the competition.

X-Posted appropriately. . .

Hey Everyone,
I hope none of you mind me asking this, but I'm
wondering if you could help me out. We are trying
to kick up our tech forum site, started by Lydia at
Poolesville High School, by just telling who we can.
We're looking for high school maryland tech kids
specifically- but college and older, as well as
outside of MD, would be welcome too. Please help me
spread the message! The website is

Thanks,

Hello Yall! [11 Jul 2005|03:20pm]

Well hey.. looks like I'm not the ONLY one that loves THEATER! Sa-weet.. though I've only been 4 major productions.. I've been involved with Show Choir and dance (clogging, if anybody happens to know what that is) all my life just about. The shows I've been in are...

A Christmas Carol "Mrs. boswell"
Into the Woods "Lucinda"
Fools "Lenya Zubritzky"
Oklahoma "chorus" (because I moved to a different school right after their auditions.. what a bummer.. but hey.. it was fun)

So anyway.. I'm also Thespian Society Secretary so if there are any shows in Central Indiana that anybody knows about.. please let me know! Need to crank those points up!!

Hey, my name is Kelsey and I'm new here. So...I'll give a quick intro.

I started acting professionally when I was nine. My first show was The American Girls Revue, in which I played Kirsten and Felicity. I did that show for 2 years. I was cast as the original Kit in Circle of Friends, and then moved on to play Kirsten. I was a soloist in Northwestern's Stephen Sondheim production of Children of Eden. I played Jane in Holiday Celibrations for 2 years. I was in Theater Fever 2 years in a row at Navy Pier's Shakespere Theater. I played Chava in Fiddler on the Roof at Light Opera Works as well as Kim McAffe in Bye Bye Birdie at the Marriott. My most recent project is playing Kim in Showboat at the Marriott.

As you can tell, I'm more of a musical theater person, being that my main passion is singing. I sang the national anthem at the International Gymnastics Meet. I sang at the opening of Skate on State for Mayor Daley, then was invited to sing at his food drive. I've also sang at Wreathing of the Lions at the Art Institute as well as Lincoln Park Zoo's Christmas Special 2 years in a row.

I model at Nieman Marcus, Zutopia, Limited Too, and American Girl Place. I've been in several commercials as well.

I'm trained in opera as well as musical theater. I've taken tap for 9 years, jazz for 8 years, hip hop for 2 years, and I'm just starting ballet.

My favorite musicals are Miss Saigon, Rent, Tick Tick Boom, Les Miserables, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Into the Woods.

Yay!

Hi! [30 Jun 2003|03:52pm]

worthewait
hi, I'm new here..duh.
ok, my name's amanda and I am 15 and got to Lakeland High School in a small town that you've probably never heard of unless you like amish or you are amish. haha
more on that later.
I haven't been in too many productions as of yet, but i am just getting the opportunities to...so...
I am immersed in speech, however. I couldn't stop if I tried. I'm, like, addicted. I do drama and prose, next year I'm trying impromptu and humor and duo and bunches of other things.
yeah, I cannot wait.
As of right now, i'm involved in the LaGrange civic hteatre's production of Forty Second Street.
Oh, yeah, I happen to like musicals just a teensy bit better, but that's only because I can sing well. I think. I dunno, u tell me. Ok, well, I've gotta go now. I'm supposed to be working right now.

To pull the plug or not. [Introduction at the end] [30 Jun 2003|03:20pm]

lucianus
Debating, something a director must do at times like these. I have taken an act out of my full length play for the highschool drama class to perform and to be assessed on providing that I direct it, and act as my player; since the play is about my past. For 3 weeks I have tried to get the limited cast to be motivated about it, and to perform at their best. It scares me that in those 3 weeks we're only up to scene 3 of 6 scenes, and that most of the talentless highschool students are indeed performing at their best. The deadline is 4 August, thats when their performing it.

Since it's not going anywhere, I want to pull the plug on this whole production as I know the quality of the performance is reflected onto the director and not the actual actors, and its hard to act in the play and try to direct it as well. Even though that aspect gives you an advantage and a certain intimacy with the whole production. I majored in acting, not directing. Maybe I should of given mother the role of director and just kept to acting. I much prefer being directed, than directing.I feel as if I had given the role of me to someone else, we would be getting along alot faster and by now I would of hoped that they had put their scripts down. Which they haven't. Why did I have to be limited to a cast with no talent or skill, and don't even respect the conventions, techniques and elements of a piece of Drama? out of the 11 character cast, only 3 people i see potential in.

But yet the fact that their actually getting assessed on their character exploration on this act makes me think twice about pulling the plug on the entire thing. That and the fact that I feel the need to prove to myself and others that I am a good director, after my extract of King Lear act 2 scene 7 (the eye guaging of Gloucestor) failed to get any respect or attention for my hardwork at the festival I had always wanted to exact my comeback. And now is a good a time as any. I don't know, I just can't put up with this lethargic cast which has no motivation, and uses my time as an excuse to run around screaming through the corridors and disrupting everyone. Maybe a talk to my cast is in order, as this is making me want to curl up in bed all day, and ignore my duties to the world. Its bad enough I have to see my past come to life, i don't need a botchery of a performance as well. I also don't want to be labelled as a quitter, and to give up on this is to give up on trying to heal from my past.

I feel that some Merlot's are in order to talk to mother about this as well.

Yes I rambled. But now since I'm a new member I shall introduce myself. My name is Charles, I am 20 years old and I am an actor, playwright (written 2 full length plays, 1 one act play) and now I'm dabbling in directing without much success. I was in a rockband, but unfortunately we've all broken up now. Along with performance art I also appreciate artwork such as painting...the reason for this is that my mother was an artist before she died (the mother I refer to in this entry is my drama teacher whom I consider my mother). My diary name is indeed the poisoner from the play within the play of Hamlet (act 3 scene 2). The reason for this is that the role of Lucianus let me see my unlocked potential, and thus made me pursue a life in performance arts; that and the fact that I feel dark, and dangerous to those around me. Since the role of Lucianus, I've had many lead roles in many historical and modern plays. I have had a troubled past, but i'm over coming that with this performance...even though its not going as well as I imagined. If you haven't figured it out, I'm a long-winded writer, I don't like writing short piddly entries but don't mind reading them either.

Well, thats all for today. I'll rant another time.

'Allo! My name is Elizabeth and I've been a full-fledged theatre addict for about four years now. In eighth grade I was in my first real theatre production, and I've been hooked ever since. These are the roles I've played so far...

"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" - Potiphar's Wife
"Godspell" - Herb
"Into the Woods" - Rapunzel
"Little Women" - Marmee
"The Outsiders" - Soc/Ms. Synes
"Little Shop of Horrors" - Ensemble
Variety Show: "Godspell" - Sonia, "West Side Story" - Baby John, Ensemble
"The Pirates of Penzance" - Cop/Pirate
"Annie" - Miss Hannigan
"Once On This Island - "Asaka"
"I Never Saw Another Butterfly" - Irena Synkova
"Antigone" - Ismene
"Les Miserables" - Madame Thenarder, Brujon/Student (on off nights)

Have you guys ever done any of these shows? I'm dying to get your opinions on them.

My choir teacher was talking about next year's production this afternoon. We might do "Into the Woods"! It would be my second time doing it, but I would kill to play the baker's wife or the witch. Ahh!

Everyone thinks our Drama Club, Players 58, is a group where a whole bunch of kids get together, smoke pot, party, then put on a good show. Only one of those things is true. Guess which.

hey! this is my community. basically our schools drama club is looked down upon, my most of the school, and even judges and students from other "theater schools". so yeah were poor, we have a terrible, mentally abusive sponsor, and our group we have now are starting to think of ways to get our drama club up and running, and kick ass as ever.

anyone have ideas?

oh yes, thank you to ANYONE who has come here and joined. i love you!
