3:05a - oh - are we supposed to be growing up??
Nothing seems to want to work tonight (by which I mean the net of course - everything's really slow and crap. Hmmm)

So, went out with Emma and her boyfriend Paul today. Turns out he's not her boyfriend anymore, he's her fiance. Bloody hell - I haven't even got a boyfriend yet! And people are already engaged?! I think it'd have upset me more except that Paul's really sweet and they're obviously a good couple. (They fulfill a lot of my couples' rules, which are many and various.) They'll be moving into an apartment in Newcastle soon - yay, Newcastle! So I can have a good excuse to randomly visit Newcastle now, which is nice for me! (So very very shallow...) (Also using far too many brackets tonight.)

So we had coffee in Debenhams' coffee-shop for about three hours, did a bit of shopping, then went for luch at the Cornerhouse, which I didn't even know existed coz I never go round the back of Cole Brothers - it's just wrong there! And it was really groovy. The only thing is wishing that Em was closer so I could see her more often. But hey well - you never know what might happen in the next year. Probably not very much, methinks; )

It's odd how I can be completely happy for Emma and Paul, but be horribly jealous of other people. So I've decided that it must just be that I like Emma a lot more than most of my friends, coz lets see:

  • Emma Walch: likes Nottingham and Nic more than anything-in-the-world-ever. It's clear that we're not as important as her uni friends, so there. She thinks Sheffield is grotty (which is just as well as i think Nottingham's grotty) and hates living with her parents (which I really love). So plenty in common there then. I think she's just waiting around til she can have a brood of kids.

  • Maria:is never around, ever. I appreciate that she works shifts as a chef and everything so she doesn't have much free time, and we do live quite far away from each other. But whenever I go out with her, little more than an hour passes before her boyfriend calls her. He usually calls twice. Last time he spirited her away in the middle of the pub quiz so he could have a lift coz he didn't have enough for bus fare. *rolls eyes* I mean....arrghhh! I really love Maria and I wish we saw more of each other, but it just isn't happening.

  • Hannah: is great and fabulous, but has another year of uni left to run, poor love. Her Michael seemed fine to me, but as I only saw him for three seconds I'm hardly apt to judge. She's another one living with her blokey (Emma S., Maria, Hannah).

  • Suze:is also fabulous and wonderful, and doesn't as yet have a bloke - and thus is quite relaxing company! But is in Japan for the next year teaching English as a Foreign Language.

  • And last, but not least, Kelly: wants to be a Crime Scene Investigator with the police. Has applied for a job in Bedford, which, if she gets it, will probably mean ave atque vale for our friendship. Also, she thinks Sheffield is crap and hates living with her parents - but on the plus side, is one of my few remaining friends who doesn't yet have a boyfriend.

So yeah - I'm kinda looking forward to starting at Leeds coz I might actually have some friends I can spend time with who share at least some interests with me. Possibly even of the male persuasion, one never knows.

Note to self: this entry is a good reason for never showing this blog to any existing friends!
