Just finished The Hours by Michael Cunningham. Gah. Have tons to say, but will write about it later. | | Wednesday, June 4th, 2003 | | 3:20 am |
Today I sat down and read The Nanny Diaries in twelve hours, including time to make and eat dinner, television, and breaks from wanting to kill Mrs. X (a character). I think my reading habits are fairly respectable, but I also think I'm entitled to some fluff from time to time. In this case, I picked well. It was fun to read and the characters were dead-on. It has also made me start thinking about the habits of my aunt and uncle. They're not nearly as extreme as Mr. and Mrs. X in the book, not at all, but still have some of the same tendencies. Iuhoh. I have this weird sense of impending doom right now and am a bit afraid to go to sleep lest I have weird dreams. I'd rather stay up and finish re-reading 1984.
As a side note: when I let Madeleine out on the balcony, she gets so excited that she starts running around like a madwoman on speed. It's impressive.

Wow. I'd all but forgotten about Blurty until a few days ago and now I'm intrigued again. Ah, my short memory.
Somehow it'd never occurred to me to look at the lyrics inside Mortal City, but I'm glad I finally did. There are a few things I've gotten wrong whilst car-singing.
It's blazing hot inside Travis's apartment, but he's a stickler about the air conditioner. It must not be too bad or I'd just go home to my own air conditioner.
Finished reading Who's Irish this morning. It was good, I guess, but the characters lacked depth. I'm glad I got it from the library.
