2:21p - chock full of hoot, just a liiiiitle bit of nanny
so we've got this thing at work: it's a called above and beyond, a reward and recognition program for the finance and risk management division--generally, as i think is evident, the idea is to reward and recognize individuals for performing above and beyond expectations. there's something about a commitment to excellence, blah di blah blah. according to the nomination guidelines, the potential recipients must have, in the last nine months, been Proactive, Impactful and Passionate.

in case you missed it, Impactful is in no way an actual word. it's not a fucking word! how seriously am i supposed to take a program that can't recognize imaginary words? if i tossed impactful or exceedance or plotular into a memo, i'd get shitcanned! i don't care how many times some exec throws it around, impactful is wrong and always will be, so long as lexicographers continue to see it my way, which i can assure you, they do. and i don't like the figurative use of the verb "impact" anyway, but that's really an extraneous point. an exceedance, if you will.

other than that, it's been a pretty good day. spice cake in the lounge, root beer floats in the productions area. all of my bosses are out, so i came in late. again. oops. nobody's touched my ass today or called me "honey." the new guy who's in love with me brought me grapes. oh, and it's friday. beer me and i'm good.

"don't you ever want anything more for yourself? i know this poor hapless son of a bitch does. i look into his sorry doe eyes and i just, i see a man crying out. he's crying out, 'when lord? when the fuck can your servant ditch this foul-mouthed little chucklehead to whom i am a constant victim of his folly, so much so that it prevents me from ever getting to kiss a girl, fuck! when, lord when? when's gonna be my time?'"
