1:33p - don’t rush me i’m perusing the merchandise
my main task for today is as follows: to turn the sentence:
All funds have been allocated somewhere for some reason.
into something that sounds "professional." since the haven't given me the context of the sentence, this is sort of a bizarre zen-like experience. all i have are these nine words on a post-it note. all funds have been allocated somewhere for some reason... well, aren't those words to live by? i mean, really. all funds have been allocated somewhere for some reason, be they financial or emotional or something else vague and karmic and not lightly put into words?
so i've spent my morning staring at this three by three yellow square, pondering, and spewing out the most obnoxious versions of the sentences that i can muster. funds have been comprehensively distributed to their designated allocations! funds designated for specific purposes have been deposited into their respective allocations! all funds unanimously dedicated to spurious conclusions have retired to their respective appointments! this goes on for a good page and a half.
now, i'm editing my big list of gibberish down to about five reasonably coherent sentences to send off to larry and larry. now...why am i so fucking annoyed with the assignment? i guess it's because i kinda feel like a monkey at the zoo. and not a nice zoo, either. or a nice monkey, for that matter. like a bitter, red-assed monkey in an ugly cage who throws poop at passersby. they toss me peanuts and expect me to crap out shakespeare, when it's really hemingway that they need. well, maybe not hemingway, but a little editing. okay, a lot of editing.
in other news, amy newton made fudge today. v. satisfying. faith in humanity restored for short period.
