"And we do apologize when we're wrong. Fortunately, I am never wrong."
~ linearlogic

...I even think Al cosplayers are adorable. 8| And that Winry pwns. All three of them.

So. Today. Let's see, where to start? Next year, as some and/or all of you know, I'll be living on the Servant Leadership floor here at UD. Which means I'll be participating in various service projects with the people that I'll be sharing a building with. (Yes, it's called a floor, but it's actually a building. I don't know why.) We had sort of a pre-event today, with three different service projects that each of us could choose from. Me and future roommates Kathryn, Angie, and Rachel decided to go to the St. Vincent Hotel, which is a place that feeds and houses homeless people around here, to help them with their annual "bean luncheon" that they invite their funders to.

Frankly, I wasn't exactly looking forward to it. I'd been to a place similar to this for a service project in high school, and also quite frankly, the memory of that place still makes my stomach turn a little. I can't imagine living in a building like that one. It smelled like stuff I'd never dare to smoke. So I'm not sure what I was expecting this morning.

It's true, that doing service makes you feel better about yourself. I didn't do much at all in the grand scheme of things, just chopped some a ton of vegetables for a salad (I didn't know how to chop a green pepper before this morning 8|) and wrapped up sets of silverware in napkins and folded clean sheets, but I felt like I was finally using my time for something good, instead of using it for myself all the time. Although folding all those sheets made my arms hurt. It was a really nice place, too. It was a new building, really big, and clean.

And then, today is Rachel's birthday!! (Well, by now, I guess it's yesterday. XD) So me, her, Kathryn, and Angie went out for dinner at Milano's, which is a really good pizza/sub place near campus. I love their club subs, all warm and toasted and yummy. After that we went to Ben and Jerry's for dessert. More yum, chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream <3.

While we were at Ben and Jerry's, "This Kiss" by Faith Hill came on the radio. XDD I used to love that song, haven't heard it in years. I remember how the refrain says something about "centrifugal motion" and when I heard it, I would think, "There's no such thing as centrifugal force!! :|" I always liked the second verse, too. "Cinderella said to Snow White / How does love get so off course? / All I wanted was a white knight / With a good heart, soft touch, fast horse / Ride me off into the sunset / Baby, I'm forever yours." Aww. ;_;

My tastes in music have certainly evolved since then. Like, I don't like boybands anymore. >_> Although I may still put on a Backstreet Boys song every great once in a while. But no more NSync, plzthx.

Poems! [23 Apr 2006 | duel start @ 02:40pm]
[ mood | lazy ]
[ music | Mario Piano!! ]

Bah. I need a better title for this poem.

I've been calling it "Medicine Bulb" since I wrote it in 2002, but I hate that and can't for the life of me think of anything better. )

XDD I remember writing that for sophomore English class. I was so happy with how it turned out, I think because I thought the rhythm of the last two lines was just awesome.

I wrote another poem for that class that I really liked. It didn't start off so well, though. The assignment was to write a cinquain, which has a very rigid style. Five lines: the first line has to be two syllables long, the second line four syllables, the third line four, the fourth line eight, and the fifth line two syllables again. I think I tried to write something about basketball, since I had been to one of my cousin Mike's (who's going to be an NBA star someday) games and I thought I could liken the rhythm to a basketball bouncing on the floor.

After a few hours of struggling with the stupid syllable requirements, I got frustrated and decided to write a cinquain about how cinquains aren't poems. ) Clever, huh? XD

I'm putting those both up on the Notebook, because I luff them. And after much thought, I think I'm taking down Ode to a Friend. It's a little personal, and I don't think I'd quite want my family to read that one. Even though I like it a lot. ;_;

I love my Maple Story playing habits. I binge-play for a few days and then forget all about it for a few weeks. XD

Am feeling inexplicably lazy today. Which is bad, because I have Calculus homework to start.

Went to early Mass this morning ("early" being 10am) because it's Fr. Heft's last Mass here. ;_; He's going to California to help out with the start of a project he's been involved in for a few years now. There was a reception afterwards, and there were so many people there.

Sometimes I just don't know what it is that makes me emotional sometimes. Two little girls made their first communion at Mass this morning, and I almost started crying.

According to Kuru, this now owns my soul. *watches* ...Holy crap, that is awesome. O_O

Hmm. Seems he's called the Video Game Pianist. There are a lot of clips on this site.

...XDDD. This is so my new Windows shutdown sound.

A final thought, or maybe more of a note to self. )

Kisara! [23 Apr 2006 | duel start @ 09:43pm]
[ mood | contemplative ]
[ music | True Heart ~ Tackey & Tsubasa ]

Kisara has a surname. Shimizu. Pure water. Shimizu Kisara. I like it. 8D

Ooh, when is Kisara's birthday?

...Hmm. She doesn't seem to have a canon birthdate. I'll choose one, then.

...Based upon five minutes of reading about personality types of the zodiac, I think I'll make her a Pisces. (Seto is such a Scorpio, it's not even funny. I don't believe in zodiac stuff, but I'm still pretty proud of being a lion. I think I make a fairly good Leo.) How about... March 4. Okay. :D 1986, so she's 20 years old, which is a good age for a second-year college student.

Next question. And this is actually a fairly good one. How in the world am I going to explain Kisara arriving at a school at the end of the term? :| Also, what are all the characters going to be doing during the summer? What excuse will I have to have her mingle with the others, since she wouldn't have met them during the school year?

...I suppose I could have her walk past the bike shop and be drawn inside by the hot window ornament. XD

...Hmm. If you guys aren't ending the term too soon, I could always pass her off as a Domino resident who's unhappy with her current university and wants to transfer to Domino after she finishes out the term. That would give her an excuse to be on campus, talking with professors and getting things set up for next year and the like.

This shall require more thought. Also, I have a journal name in mind. But shirokiryuu and shiroki_ryuu are both taken, and I can't think of any alternate spellings that look good. Ideas?
