So, I was on strike again today. This doesn't mean I stood on a picket line, because I didn't. I went to my mum's on Monday night and I've just got back. We went into town to sort out a lot of her money. This involved visiting some of the building societies where my dad had small accounts and finally showing them a death certificate to get the accounts transfered/closed and opening a mini cash ISA. I have no real concept of what a mini cash ISA is, but my mum knew she needed one so when the guy kept trying to sell mum loads of other things or talk through her options she just kept saying "Mini cash ISA, please". It was quite amusing and eventually led to us getting the required account. She knew she was going to have difficulties because a big chunk of dad's life insurance is still in her current account until she finishes sorting it out so they wanted to get their hands on it.
We also bought her some loose fitting trousers for her hospital visit. The hospital told her she needed some loose on the leg as well as at the waist. We found some bargainous tracky bottoms at 3 for £10 in QS.
Also, because I was near shops with my mother I ended up buying. I'm sure I spend more when she's around. Today I got hiking boots - which I need as part of the "get Delle off her lazy arse" campaign and a new mobile. It looks very nice and is far lighter than my current one. I can't use it yet as it has to do a first charge thing which takes forever. Still, I'm looking forward to having a novel ring tone. My mother wanted to record her shouting "Answer the bloody phone!", but I prefer the idea of her singing the Sound of Music. I doubt I'll ever actually get inventive enough to do it. Unless I get mUrt to Honk on it. Of course, I'm not sure honking will be loud enough, I have to have a loud ring because I'm really bad at hearing my phone.
I had a bad time and I didn't post it in my diary. I had a misunderstanding at work that got me in a right state. I made myself physically ill over it, but it got sorted (at least in part) and now I feel so much better about it all.
Emily is a saint. For explanation, Emily is the person who had the guts to sort things out and smooth them over. Tomorrow I'm sending her a thank you email. I may try baking something and offering some to her and her colleagues as a peace offering.
