We've just arrived in Lusaka (the capital of Zambia) after a very long bus trip that included a game of five-handed 500 that lasted four or five hours. Much to the delight of the locals, we stopped from time to time to kick a footy.
I'm sitting in an internet cafe, waiting for my dinner, which is being provided for the team and our Zambian guests by the Scots' Church Outreach Committee. I haven't eaten much in the last two days: I've been a bit sick, though I think I'm better now.
We had a great time teaching at Chasefu Theological College. The students were not as responsive as those at Zomba, but in response to my lecture on kingship, I was asked whether Baal being the storm god implied that Satan controls the weather. I also felt very comfortable in lecturing, and really enjoyed myself.
One highlight of our time at Chasefu was meeting the senior chief of the region, His Royal Highness Magodi V. His palace was a house, his throne was an armchair, and I thought he had been drinking.
To be honest, I'm getting to the stage of being ready to go home, but I'm still experiencing new things. Keep on praying.
