9:47AM - Readings for Holy Week #6: Good Friday
Why is it called "Good" Friday, my religious education students asked me. If it's when Jesus died, it should be called "Bad" Friday...
But the LORD delighted in crushing him, making him sick.
When you make his soul a trespass-offering,
He shall see offspring prolong their days,
And the delight of the LORD will prosper in his hand.
From the labour of his soul he will look, satisfied in his knowledge,
My servant who is vindicated will vindicate many.
It is he who will be loaded with their iniquities.
Therefore, I will give him a portion with many,
And he shall apportion the spoil with numerous ones,
Because he stripped naked his soul to death,
And was reckoned with the transgressors.
It was he who bore the sin of many,
And makes intercession for the transgressors.
