2:20PM - Readings for Holy Week #3
This is the second of the so-called "Servant Songs" in Isaiah.
Listen to me, O coastlands,
And pay attention, O peoples from afar:
The LORD called me from the womb,
From my mother's belly he caused my name to be remembered.
He made my mouth like a sharp sword,
He hid me in the shadow of his hand.
He made me a polished arrow,
He concealed me in his quiver.
He said to me, "You are my servant,
Israel – in you I will glorify myself."
– Isaiah 49:1-3
