8:14AM - Readings for Holy Week #1: Palm Sunday
Another series for Holy Week, similar to last year, but this time from the prophecy of Isaiah. The phrase "preaching good news" (or, "herald good tidings") seems to have the same meaning as ευαγγελιζω in Greek. The last line of this quotation is just two words in Hebrew.
Go up to a high mountain, preaching good news to Zion.
Lift up your voice with strength, preaching good news to Jerusalem.
Lift it up, do not fear.
Say to the cities of Judah, "Here is your God!"
See, the Lord GOD comes with might, and his arm rules for him;
See, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.
Like a shepherd he will shepherd his flock,
In his arms he will gather the lambs, and carry them in his bosom,
Leading to a watering-place those who give suck, and causing them to rest there.
– Isaiah 40:9-11
