Father, thank you that you place people in positions of authority, and you remove them from office as you see fit. Thank you for those who rule over us.
Thank you for the Queen, for the respect she induces and the example she sets her subjects. Thank you for our Prime Minister, for his dedication to his office and his concern for this country. Thank you for our leaders at all levels of government – federal, state and local. Thank you for our Premiers, our Mayors, our parliamentary representatives and our Senators. Thank you for the wisdom and ability you have given them.
Thank you, Lord, for the freedom we have in this country to elect people to office. Thank you for the Victorian State Elections this Saturday. Thank you for the right we have to speak out against the government and to protest. Thank you for those in Parliament who are in Opposition, and for the accountability they demand. Thank you for those in the media who question governmental policy.
Most of all, Father, thank you for the freedom we have to worship and evangelise here in Australia. Thank you for the opportunity to teach religious education in schools. Thank you for the progress that the gospel has made in this country.
Thank you for giving us all we need for life and godliness.
