Today is the feast day of St. Willibrord. Born in 658, he played a part in the early missionary expansion from Britain. He preached to the Frisians, became the first Archbishop of Utrecht, and is now the patron saint of the Netherlands. The Wikipedia article has some fascinating stuff about him. Willibrord was caught up in the politics of the time, and was not always successful in his preaching endeavours. But this is the guy to took the gospel to my people.
