I've talked about it being necessary for Christian to obey the road rules, but the opposite sin must also be avoided – we need to be careful to put away all self-righteousness on the road. So often the Christian life is like walking a tightrope between two extremes. Sometimes we avoid antinomianism only to end up in legalism. Sometimes we can steer clear of anger, but still get tangled up in pride.
If someone swerves into your lane, how do you react? Some people respond in anger, but I tend to be smugly self-righteous – I look down my nose in contempt at the incompetence of my fellow driver. And while road-rage may be bad, perhaps road-pride is even worse.
