9:37AM - Being a Christian in your car #6: What if they're more like "guidelines"?

In Australia we have two kinds of speed limit signs:

The one on the left is a regulatory sign (you must not drive above the speed indicated), while the one on the right is advisory. This is where it starts to get a bit more difficult. How do we respond to these advisory signs?

It seems to me that this is a wisdom issue. We make our own decision as to the speed at which we drive. Yet an important part of wisdom is listening to advice:

The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice. (Proverbs 12:15)

With the cars I have driven, and my own level of ability, my experience has been that the advisory signs are usually very sensible. But we live in a busy society, and we always want to get places quickly. We are allowed to drive faster than the speed indicated on the yellow-and-black signs, but in doing so we should ask ourselves, "Is this wise?" Because stupidity is often a sin.
