10:42AM - Law, Gospel and ghd
The other day I saw a poster advertising ghd hair products. It went under the heading of "The Gospel According to ghd", and said: Thou shalt not use yours to make rich old men with weak hearts fall in love with you.
Can you see the category error here? "Thou shalt not" is not gospel, it's law. Yet the average person on the street probably doesn't know the difference – in other words, they don't realise that gospel means good news.
The Law informs us of our need for the Gospel. The Law is an implication of the Gospel. But the Law is not the Gospel.
