i) Jesus raises the status of suffering – whereas formerly it was despised, now it is trendy. (My phraseology, not Welch's.) In some way that maybe we can't fully understand, suffering is to be embraced as a noble thing.
ii) We don't have to work hard at remembering our suffering, because God remembers it.
