3:22PM - More on Megiddo
Reuters have some lovely pictures of the Megiddo dig, including this one of an inscription:
I actually know enough Greek to be able to translate it! "Akeptous, the lover of God, offered the table for God Jesus Christ - a memorial."
But the thing with Greek is, you always know more than you realise. The word for table is TPAΠEZAN (4th and 5th lines) –whence we get the word "trapezium". Which looks a bit like a table, I suppose. The last word is MNHMOΣYNON, which is related to our word "mnemonic".
Notice also that Jesus Christ is called "God", yet this was written before the Council of Nicea. The Da Vinci Code got it wrong!
