I think it's appropriate for me to comment on the Australia's so-called Industrial Relations law reform. According to government advertising (and my government wouldn't lie to me), this new legislation is going to eliminate the “complex and costly rules and regulations” that are holding our country back.
Well, I'm all for that. We certainly don't want to have all these complex and costly rules and regulations. And we definitely don't want to see anything holding Australia back. Forget the idea that these regulations protect our workers – I say, let employers do what is right in their own eyes.
In fact, these reforms don't go far enough. Our entire legal system is full of complex and costly rules and regulations – let's get rid of the lot. They're holding our country back.
