For centuries people have wondered whether Adam and Eve are in heaven. Well, according to Milton, they were regenerated, and consequently repented. We then have a lovely reference to their prayers - which apparently break the sound barrier. (Though with that reference to "loudest oratory", I can't help wondering if Milton believed that the speed of sound depended on its amplitude...)
Thus they in lowliest plight repentant stood
Praying, for from the Mercy-seat above
Prevenient Grace descending had removed
The stony from their hearts, and made new flesh
Regenerate grow instead, that sighs now breathed
Unutterable, which the Spirit of prayer
Inspired, and winged for Heaven with speedier flight
Than loudest Oratory...
