I bought William Riviére's A Venetian Theory of Heaven cheap at a library book sale a few weeks ago, but I just couldn't get into it. Every paragraph was a chore, and at page 25 I finally gave up.
Which is a pity, because it was such a fantastic title! The book promised so much, but could not deliver. It didn't live up to the playful allusiveness of its name. I've had it before with Occurences of the Number 3 - which I managed to finish, though it wasn't as interesting as its title suggested.
I think I might have a go at something with a more mundane title, like Paradise Lost.
