9:48AM - OK, Ignore that previous post...

Back to normal here. Thanks for the comment on the last post Ben - I worked out that I didn't really like it all that much myself. It seemed really you-beaut late at night, but in the cold hard light of day... well, one realises that less is more, simple is better, that sort of thing.

I still might fiddle with it from time to time, but nothing so garish...

(For those of you who tuned in late, my last post was accomapnied by a change in the layout that was apparently reminiscent of Space Invaders...)

10:36PM - Poems XIII

From a litany of penitence, by Richard F. Littledale...

Thou who, leaving crown and throne,
Camest here, an outcast lone,
That thou mightest save thine own:
Hear us, Holy Jesus.

Thou with sinners wont to eat,
Who with loving words didst greet
Mary weeping at thy feet,
Hear us, Holy Jesus.

Thou whose saddened look did chide
Peter when he thrice denied,
Till with bitter tears he cried,
Hear us, Holy Jesus.

Thou who on the cross didst reign,
Dying there in bitter pain,
Cleansing with thy blood our stain:
Hear us, Holy Jesus.

Shepherd of the straying sheep,
Comforter of them that weep,
Hear us crying from the deep:
Hear us, Holy Jesus.

That in thy pure innocence
We may wash our souls' offense,
And find truest penitence:
We beseech thee, Jesus.

That we give to sin no place,
That we never quench thy grace,
That we ever seek thy face:
We beseech thee, Jesus.

That denying evil lust,
Living godly, meek, and just,
In thee only we may trust:
We beseech thee, Jesus.

That to sin for ever dead,
We may live to thee instead,
And the narrow pathway tread:
We beseech thee, Jesus.

When shall end the battle sore,
When our pilgrimage is o'er,
Grant thy peace for evermore:
We beseech thee, Jesus.
