10:02PM - Quotes VII

One of my favourites, from one of my heroes, Blaise Pascal:

"Men are so necessarily mad that not to be mad would amount to another form of madness."

10:12PM - Confidence covers a multitude of sins...

... or something like that. Isn't that in the Bible somewhere? Might be in Second Hesitations.

The Old Testament reading at church last night was from Nehemiah chapter 3, and Ben (the guy who read) did an admirable job of not stumbling at any of the really awkward names. Which on reflection, is all you need. You don't have to pronounce the names correctly. Most of the OT names are badly Anglicised anyway. You just have to make it sound good. Hence my comment about confidence.

Currently at college we'e having a week-long intensive on the doctrine of the Trinity. The lecturer is Dr Gerald Bray, who's over from the States. (He's from Birmingham, bam-ba-lam, way down in Alabam', bam-ba-lam.) Anyway, he's a very well respected theologian. Don't know what he's written, but he's very well respected.
