2:34PM - Presbyterian basilica

I preached this morning at Hawthorn Presbyterian Church. If Scots Church in the city is the Presbyterian cathedral, then this would be the Presbyterian basilica - the architecture is most interesting. And it's on the, ah, traditional end of the pressie spectrum. Which is presumably why they asked me to preach. Some people assume that just because I'm young I must be cool, hip and contemporary. But slowly people are realising that I am, in fact, a hyper-reformed arch-conservative...

2:38PM - Poems IV

"Judas, Peter" by Luci Shaw:

because we are all
betrayers, taking
silver and eating
body and blood and asking
(guilty) is it I and hearing
him say yes
it would be simple for us all
to rush out
and hang ourselves

but if we find grace
to cry and wait
after the voice of morning
has crowded in our ears
clearly enough
to break our hearts
he will be there
to ask us each again
do you love me
