7:07PM - Function - Citigroup Appreciation Night

The second function for the day - this one was for the entire Citigroup staff, which meant a totally different crowd from this afternoon's do. Venue was JW Marriot KL and the theme was 70's Disco and the people REALLY dressed to the theme, although the usual wet blankets were there too. Had to play a crowd game (left side vs right side) before the food was served.

Met Evon again - she was the Head of Corporate Communications. A really feisty lady with a lot of spunk. This time round she wasn't as nervous about me since we had worked together before in a previous function for Citibank.

Again, Phua Chu Kang worked his magic on the crowd during the showtime. Must remember some of his better lines ("your other right hand" - left hand) and games too, like the getting the volunteers and also his weird treasure hunt. Also the best dressed was pretty good, when he paired up the contestants into couples.

He, of course, drew the most attention when it came to autograph signing and left the whole ballroom empty at the end of the evening. However the people started to trickle back and a decent crowd was on the dance floor eventually.

I personally felt today was a truly hectic one, what with two functions, with two different sets of programs to boot. However, I survived! Now, it's just waiting for the $$$ to roll in!

7:06PM - Function - Citibank Treasury Dept Appreciation Party

Great party held at Hard Rock Cafe. I hardly had anything to do for this function. However, I almost didn't quite make it in time since traffic was horrendous. This was due to the fact that today is also the birthday of the Sultan of Selangor, so while the rest of KL was working on this 2nd Saturday, Selangor had a day off.

We had Phua Chu Kang for entertainment this afternoon (and again tonight) - Gurmit Singh was great. Since it was more a family outing this afternoon, there were lots of kids, and Gurmit played games more for the kids than the adults. Even then, he left everyone in stitches from beginning to end.

Function ended at 4:10pm. Had to rush to the next function for CitiGroup at JW Marriot down at Jalan Bukit Bintang.

12:53AM - Tonight's function - Tylon Manufacturing

Sometimes you get good vibes from the crowd you're working with. These vibes give away a lot about the company and the relationships between the management and the staff. Tonight's function was a Japanese company - Tylon Manufacturing. The company makes moulds for electronics giants that makes TV sets and stuff. Straightforward function, with an illusionist named Victor and also Yusoff Chong. So, what has this got to do with the vibe thing? Well, I didn't get good vibes today... but then, heck, I could be wrong.

Function started at 8:00pm and ended at 10:15pm... even with all the entertainment.

1:52AM - Roti Jala Day!

Both me and my wife are big Roti Jala fans, so I decided to order 100 pieces from Sharifah (Class Act) to wallop. Now I've got Roti Jala literally sticking out of my ears man... heheheh At RM0.30 per piece (complete with curry to boot), it's a great bargain.

Calvin complained of a fever. Wife took him to the doctor's and found that he's got an infected tonsil...

Heck... Mother arrived on Wednesday here in KL and I had to ferry her around with some other Aunties. No problem, it's better to have her here down in KL than in Penang since my father passed away. At least my sister and I can keep an eye on her, not that she's incapable of doing that herself.

11:41AM

Another day, another function. Today's one was for Toshiba , the semiconductor division or TETM for short. HiVolt was the event company. It was a small function with only around 80 pax, but they were great. The Japanese bosses were also one of the most sporting ones I've ever seen.

A lot of their lucky draw prizes consisted of cash, which was pretty good. Also, undoubtedly, many Toshiba items were also included as well.

3:19AM - Function - Robert Bosch

Class Act - Did Robert Bosch's annual dinner tonight. It was something a little special since they also celebrated 30 years in Malaysia as well. Not a big crowd, only about 90 pax or so. But it was fun. Everything went super smooth tonight, and we had Yussof Chong for comedy relief which the crowd thoroughly enjoyed.

Dennis was the DJ tonight, and he STILL can't mix!!!

7:44PM

Training today at Ministry of Health for FormReader, the new form processing software. Participants were more or less attentive, and it's so true when they say that nothing can be done after lunch, since everyone was literally falling asleep.

Perhaps my training methods have to change - Nah... I don't think so.

Spoke to Mother today and she informs me that 1st Aunt is getting her new car today @ 3pm. Spoke to her again later in the evening and she reports that the car is quite good, and went to to compliment the car even more. Now she's looking into changing her car to a Toyota Vios. This new car for the Aunt is 50% bought for with Mother's cash and the other half from my cousin, Kenny.

8:45AM - It's been a while...

Yep. Too busy to even write here... The war rages on over in the Gulf area and Iraq looks set to give the US & UK a run for their money, but what's really distressing is the fact that so many women & children are killed in the process.

Back at the home front, fears of the SARS has made the wife slightly more paranoid than ever about cleanliness. Not that I blame her. Nobody wants to die, do they? And until some cure is found, I doubt that no matter what the Government says, its not going to stop the muted fear amongst the people...

8:41AM - Day 3 - And I have a party to work at...

Tonight, I'll be at the Toyota Rev party over at Bangsar, near The Roof. It's a streetparty, people, so i am expecting a lot of weirdos, since it's also a Saturday night... Strangely, I feel nervous about this event. Not because I am DJ-ing, but more towards the type of music to be played. I suppose I could just hantam whatever I feel like lah.

11:40PM - And so, the end is near...

Well, the first salvo was shot by America at 11:15am local time this morning after Iraq didn't reply to Bush's ultimatum. I suppose the "I dare you to dare me" game has gone on long enough...

11:31AM - Well... he's gotta do something fast!

You know what, my mother-in-law passed a very insightful comment just last night. She simply remarked... "Aiya, if President Bush doesn't attack or start something, he's sure going to lose face after all that talk..." - it's like WOW, that is so earth-shaking or what?!

I suppose I never looked at it that way, that a grown man, the president of (possibly) the most powerful country in the world, can surely lose face, and be scared of losing face, is such a Eastern or Asian concept. I mean, would he really bother what the rest of the world will think of him? After all, I'm sure he can score even higher marks and save some face if he were to call the whole thing off. But, noooo, must not lose face mah....

12:01PM - 48 hours?

Sounds like a movie title? Well, President Bush has just done that... given Saddam 48 hours to get out or face the fire. How big a bully can you get? I'm just thinking about all the innocent people who have already suffered so much for so long, now having to face another long suffering period again.

Worse off, imagine if you really had no place to go, and the prospect of death looms nearer than ever... times like this makes me feel glad to be somewhere else.

Still, with the strange pneumonic disease killing of people all around the region, we may not be any better off after all. You know what, I have this conspiracy theory that perhaps this new disease could have been some kind of weapon of mass destruction that somehow or other got released instead... some kind of biological weapon...

Maybe I'm just paranoid, but it's all happening too conveniently at the same time.

1:39AM - What a hot day

Today was a pretty hot day, not only in terms of the weather, but being day 3 of the Maxis WLAN roadshow (and the last day as well). Held at Shrooms over in KLCC, quite a few PDA users were around, including ShazDaKid, VisorAdvisor and even Nasa as well. Nasa won a free Compaq WLAN card in the process. Pity VisorAdvisor lah.. two days here and didn't get anything at all in the process...

Must remember to note down something. Fernie is quite sensitive to comments about her looks...

11:43AM - To war or not to war...

I think at this point of time, many are considering the bantering of the diplomats to be no more than just that... bantering. It's hard to say why some of them choose this path, to simply talk and do more talk without any action. Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning war here, but it's so... well, childish....

Good morning...

What a day it was yesterday, with the Maxis WLAN roadshow. Fun, but the biggest heartache was the fact that they gave away 2 Nokia D211 wifi/GPRS cards for free. Man, I really wished.... ah well...

The roadshow continues today at Chinoz, KLCC.
