on friday i did my second public singing performance at our ministry's national day observance ceremony.. the first time i sang live in front of an audience was at the pub rec club... this time round the crowd was larger..the event more impt and amongst the audience were minister, my chairman, ceo etc etc... *sweat*
2 of my colleagues were suppose to sing with me... with the zhenghua pri sch band playing the music for us.. but one of them kenna chickenpox last weekend.. so left the 2 of us.... we kinda listened to the band only once last wk and on the morn of the event we rehearsed once and tat was it.... so i think my colleague and i faired quite well :) although singing Singapore Town and Chan Mali Chan were not our any of our choices... but we had to choose fr what the band knew how to play...
was trying my best to hide my errr nervousness! after the event was over... my stomach muscles started to tighten and relaxed only 2 hours after.. :P so lan right.. heh.. i think i really need more practice to overcome this
my mum said i used to perform on stage all the time so should not be a prob... i told her... that was more than 20yrs agoooo!! when i was like in wat.. kindergarten (-_-lll
We made a day trip to Cambridge and had a guide aka Ke Ting (one of my boss's daughter)... Keting is studying there and she offered to bring us ard when she heard tt we were making a trip to london... it was jus a 45min train ride from King's Cross Station to Cambridge :)
that is me, ker and keting
some of the sights of Cambridge
Going to Cambridge will never be complete without punting....
however we decided to sit in comfort and listen to the punter rather than trying to have a go... cos we saw ppl trying to attempt.. they din move far :P
we had a taste of what it was like to have meals at the college.. doesnt the setting remind u of harry potter?
lotsa greenery over there... look at the plum tree!
jus as we thought our adventure for the day ended... guess what? dunno izzit my colleague din listen clearly or the train ppl told her the wrong thing, we boarded the wrong train... when we got onto the train and listened to the announcement... i thot something was wrong when i heard them saying that the train was goin to King's Lynn instead of King's Cross... so we asked the guy sitting in front of us after we passed the next station Ely... and yes he confirmed tt we were in the wrong direction... so he told us to get off at the next stop (thankfully it was only 5min away) and go to the other platform and take a train back to Cambridge...
well we thot that was easy... jus like taking mrt right wrong direction den get off change... BUT.. when we saw the timing board... to our horror the train only comes 1 hr later!! alright so we decided to go take pics and walk ard the ulu town....
we were stranded here at Littleport
see how ulu the place is
after an hr we went back to the station and saw tt the train will be arriving in 10min... but in less than 5min the screen showed CANCELLED...omg!!! panic! so we listened for announcement... apparently some cable or sth between Ely and Littleport had prob so no trains could pass between... one of the train guy walked to the platform to tell us to take a taxi or bus to the Ely station where we could get a train back to Cambridge...
the question is this place so damn ulu how to get a taxi or bus!! den we asked him.. he said "sorry i m not sure" and he walked away... winner!
on the platform we met a guy and his young son.. they too were goin back to london... apparently he works in littleport and thankfully he had a fren who stays there... so they offered to give us a ride to the Ely train station and den we took the train back to London :S
