10:07 pm - Update
|
Well, yet again, I've been much too lazy to bother updating on a regular basis, so here we go again:
Saturday: Back to work at the farm again, after my two days off. Since my 'vacation' was more tiring than a normal work week, it was hard to get out of bed. Then, before work at Wawa, Kate spilled a cup of iced tea on our keyboard, which screwed it up.
Why is it, that when I find a man I *really* like, I have to go and screw things up? This was quite possibly my last day to do something about it, and I just let him walk away without more than a simple backwards glance. What would be worse: attempting to contact him, even though he doesn't seem to like me anymore -or- just letting him go? If anyone is good at giving guy advice to inexperienced girls, my email is UnicornRunStables@hotmail.com and my AIM is ShadowsPsyche. I need some help!
Sunday: Had to get up early again to go to the farm. Then to Wawa afterwards. Frank ended up coming late and made everyone cranky, but it turned out good because Missa Bay came late and since he stayed late, things went okay. Because it was Sunday, something crazy had to happen, which it did of course. Apparently some kids from High School met in our parking lot and decided to fight. It got bad enough for the cops to show up to break things up. Someone who was there even said they had to pull a gun on them. At the end of the night, I ended up taking Doris and Frank home, which was just odd.
Monday: Work at the farm in the morning, but no Wawa today. I took a hard core nap that made me very very happy. The keyboard on the comp was beyond repair, so I agreed to take Kate out to get one. Pauline also joined us for the ride, as I promised to take her to the mall. We stopped at the mall first, and Pauline got some shoes for the wedding. Then we went and had lunch. I had my usual: a strawberry kiwi smoothie and chili cheese fries. We also sat in our little corner spot, which made me happy.
Then on our way out, Kate wanted to stop in the little stuffed animal shop. You know, the one where you make the stuffed animals. She also convinced Pauline and I to make stuffed animals with her. They didn't give us any break for our age, and made us do all the embarassing things they make the kids do. Pauline and I nearly died, but we went through it anyway. I made a cute stuffed horse (what else?), Kate made a pig, and Pauline made a monkey. We even put them all together in the back seat and buckled them in and took a picture, like the cheezy freaks we are.
Kate had refused to go to Office Max originally, because she was afraid of seeing 'Band Aid Boy' - the kid who jumped out infront of her and asked for her phone number during our last visit to Office Max. In his defense, however, it was a piece of tape on his eyebrow. Eventually she did agree to go there and we picked up a new keyboard and other little things I needed.
By the time we got done, I was tired again and decided just to stay home. It was dark and I couldn't do much with Donnie in his stall. So I decided to just relax and read before bed, which made me very happy.
Today: I had to get up early to go get gas before going to work. Gas prices are getting to be outrageous! Then off to work where I did everything in almost record time, as I needed to get done to go to Wawa at two. I got in a quick nap and then went to Wawa. There was a managers meeting at 2, so I had to be in early. Then I was stuck on register until 8. I went down to the farm with the intention of seeing Donnie, but I just ended up talking and relaxing. Tommorrow I'm going to have to get serious about doing something with my little horse. Right now, I'm just going to relax...

10:22 pm - Catch Up
|
Since I've been so busy, running back and forth to Wildwood for my 'vacation' I haven't been able to update this journal. Now I have to play 'Catch Up':
Monday: Lauren had to leave for UConn on Thursday, so we wanted to hang out before she left. I invited her down to the shore house for the evening. We spent most of the night walking the boardwalk and looking in shops. Since it was raining on Saturday, this was my first time to see what they had this year. I bought some simple jewelry and walked the entire length of the boardwalk. Then on the way home Lauren took me through a ton of backroads. I don't understand how she can remember all that, yet drive by my house three times. *shrug*
Tuesday: I was extremely tired, but I went to work in the morning. I find out we're having a show there next month, which I think is exiciting. I thought about taking Donnie, but I don't think we're quite ready. Afterwards I went to work with him and we had the worst training session ever. He ran off three times, ripping the lunge line through my hands and started running in circles around me. I got tired of it and chased him all over the place with my whip. If he wanted to run, he was going to run until I said to stop. I was very upset afterwards, because he just wasn't listening. Definately no show. At least Mom Mom did help me, and Donnie learned to work with a chain over his nose. I was very upset and angry when I came home. Dad had called and left a message to bring the crab traps so before I got ready to leave I went outside to get the traps. There were tampons scattered all over the yard. The dog must have gone through some of Kate's stuff. I couldn't help but laugh. I hung out at the shore house and took Kate, Pauline, and Sean home with me as they had senior pictures the next day.
Wednesday: I went to work in the morning, excited because this was the end of my 10 day stretch. But, as I was finishing up, I did something stupid. I drove the mucker into a big, water-filled ditch. I really should have known better. Luckily Don wasn't that angry and he pulled me out with the tractor. All of the plans for the rest of the day fell apart.
We were supposed to go back to the shore by 3 p.m. but we kept getting delayed. I took a break and didn't get to the tack shop until later. Kate didn't go to her pictures, even though we physically went to the place. It took me longer to get Donnie's stall done than in normally does. We got stuck in traffic on the way home from taking Sean home. We also had to wait forever at the bank. Finally, after we picked up Pauline, it was almost 8 p.m. We stopped at Wawa (not my Wawa) and ate some wraps in the parking lot before heading out.
Then we hit the road at about dusk. As we were driving on 55, I noticed that a guy behind me didn't have his lights on. In the failing light, I almost missed the gray car, so I figured I ought to tell him his lights were off. I slowed until he passed and told Kate and Pauline to say 'Turn Your Lights On' along with accompanying hand motions. Then I flicked on my high beams. After a moment or so, he got the idea. Then we passed him on our way and waved. Yeah, we felt good.
When we finally reached Wildwood, we stopped at the Doo Wop Wawa, to see what it was like inside. Much to our dissapointment, it was like a normal Wawa. By the time we pulled up at the house, it was 10 p.m. and we had no parking spot. I didn't mind parking on the sidewalk, but since the police would, Dad offered to move my car later, so I could sleep. It was a long day.
Thursday: It felt good to sleep over instead of driving back and forth to Wildwood. Lauren agreed to feed the pets before leaving for UConn, so I didn't have to worry about them. After we woke up, we had a large breakfast and decided to go crabbing. All the boats big enough to fit all of us seemed to be rented already, so we decided to go to a pier.
The water off the pier was rather deep, and the crab traps would only hit the bottom in the shallowest of sections in which you could see the bottom. We could see the bottom, and there were no crabs. Bored, we decided to try and catch minnows with a bucket and some string, being as there were mad numbers of minnows swimming around the pier's posts. We went into the bait shop nearby and bought some string, and then decided to go back for a different bucket. The guy working there asked what it for, and we admitted we wanted to catch minnows, for fun. So he let us borrow a minnow trap and some bait and we went out and caught a ton of little fish. As it turns out, the minnow trap saved the day, we caught a few, small crabs. One of the fishing rods broke and no one caught any fish. I also saw one of our regular customers at Wawa, which was just weird.
At home, we changed and rested. Pauline and Kate went to the beach. I got a shower and took a nap. When we all got back together we went and got bracelets to go on the rides. We finished our shopping and decided to get henna tattos. I ended up with a little sun-moon-swirl design on my back that I love. We walked around a bit to let it dry and had pizza at Mack's. Mmmm... boardwalk pizza. Then after our tattoos dried, we went on rides. We went on the swing ride and felt like kids again. Spun ourselves silly on the tea cups and tilt o' whirl. We rode the Great White, which my seatbelt came off on. Thanks be for lap bars. We also went on a ton of other rides until we felt too sick to continue and staggered home and into bed.
Today: I woke up late today, which made me very happy. We gathered up our crap and headed out. We stopped at Wawa, yet again, for a ton of hashbrowns, lemonade tea, and Maier's donuts. I dropped Pauline off and Kate and I went home to nap. I woke up to work with Donnie, and things went way better than the last time. Then I went home and slept some more. Life is good. I've had a nice relaxing day for once. Unfortunatly I have to work mornings and 3-12 at Wawa for the next two days....guess I should get to bed...

10:42 pm - Long Day
|
Yesterday was an extremely long day. I had to work at the farm in the morning, which, luckily went smoothly. Then I made plans to visit my family at Wildwood. I spent two hours on the road getting there, as I got caught in two clots of traffic. I didn't think there would be so many people going to the shore on a dreary Saturday afternoon. By the time I got there, it was after 5 p.m. and a severe thunder storm blew in. I spent most of my evening sleeping and eating, which is not a bad thing of course, but I could have done that at home. Then we watched Anatomy of a Shark Bite, and now I'm certainly not going in the ocean. I left at 10 and got home just before midnight, but didn't get to bed until almost one because I was playing on the computer.
Today was a bit better. I did my work in the morning and then slept for almost 6 hours this afternoon. Mmm... sleep... It made me very happy. Then I spent the rest of my evening munching and playing on the computer. A nice relaxing day I needed. Not to mention, being home alone rocks.
Things I've Learned This Week:
-Electric powered vechicles from the 50's rock!
-There is such a thing as too much driving
-I *am* a good driver
-I should stop making promises to myself.

10:09 pm - Donny's Excellent Adventure
|
Well, nothing much happened yesterday, and I was tired, so I didn't bother to post at all. That and I really need to go to sleep before 1 am. Today however, was a completely different story. While working at the farm this morning, all of the horses began running around. I was curious to what was making them so upset. Then I realized that one of the stallions, a two year old black colt named Donny (as opposed to my horse Donnie) was running around with the mares!
Stallion + Mares = not good.
Luckily he wasn't trying to mount any of them, but they were kicking out at him and I was afraid someone would get hurt, so I went to get the owners. As it turns out, they knew he got into the mare's pasture and were watching him the whole time I was freaking out! Well, they caught him and put him in his stall to calm down, and no one was hurt, so everyone just got a bit of exercise.
I'm supposed to be headed for the shore right now, but since I need money for my upcoming semester of college and Donnie and I haven't had enough hours at Wawa, I have to stay and work the weekend. *Sigh* Ah, well, I really need a vacation. I've been tired and cranky way too much lately and I just need to relax. I will be down for the evening tommorrow though. I can't wait!

10:36 pm - Nothing Much
|
Another less than exciting day. I had a glorious, wonderful nap today. It made me happy. I had strange dreams of Wawa, and people from Wawa, which was really creepy. I was supposed to get new tires put on my car today but my dad didn't come home early enough. So I'm still driving on one big tire and three little tires. *sigh* I did get to work with my Donnie today. Diana even made it out to the barn to see him. He was real good today and just wanted to be hugged and pet. I tried to get him to trot, but since it was almost dark he got upset and bolted twice. Luckily we were in an enclosed space. Other than that, today was pretty low key. I kinda like it that way.

9:44 pm - On and On
|
Well today was rather boring... even more boring than usual. But sometimes I like boring. Boring means I'm not worked to death and cranky. I went to work this morning with no unusual events. Then I took a nice, long, wonderful nap that made me happy. I also went to work at Wawa today, but for only 3 hours, 4-7, and I went early to make up my lost time for Saturday. Afterwards I went to see my horse, Donnie, and paid his board for the month. One less thing for me to worry about. Mom Mom helped me pick up his feet, which he needs serious work on, but he's a baby and he'll learn. So nothing too important, but I'm content with boring for a day...

9:57 pm - Blah
|
Well ok, yesterday wasn't much better than the day before. I was supposed to go get hay for Donnie before I had work at five. Since I was late the day before, I was going to try and be early. But of course, things came up. First of all, we left an hour late and it took forever for Mom Mom to drive up to Bobby's. We did however get to see all the babies in the field while we were there, including Mac, Diana's soon-to-be new horse. I climbed through the fence to get some good pictures and pet those bold enough to come up to me. Then we loaded up the hay and creeped home. It had been raining during the morning, but since it looked nice, we hadn't bothered to cover up the hay. But, of course, within five minutes of home, it started *pouring*. Everything was soaked, I was covered in wet hay after I unloaded it, and I was almost late for work. Then I was stuck at Wawa until midnight, which was bad in itself.
Today was better. I went to work at the farm, which is much quieter and better than Wawa anyday. And in one of the stalls, we found a fox. A real, live fox, sleeping in the corner of one of the empty stalls. Unfortunatly the little vixen was one sick pup, covered in mange and barely moving. Luckily we had a resident vet on the grounds, who put the poor little thing to sleep. Then I got home and slept, alot. I heart sleep sooo much. Sleep makes me happy. Ok, so nothing too interesting has happened, but since no one cares, I wrote it down anyway.

11:27 pm - Bad Day
|
Ok, today was one of those super bad days where you wish you'd never gotten out of bed. Although it didn't start out bad. I slept in until 11:00am, and it was GREAT. I heart sleep!
Then I went to the barn to play with Donnie horse. He's been doing exceptionally well these past few days and I haven't even been carrying the whip to keep him moving. (Donnie must be the laziest horse I've ever set eyes upon. He's a baby and he doesn't even play! I've never seen him lope, gallop, buck, or rear. He rolls and stands around, then rolls some more.) I worked on teaching him to ground tie as well, and I finally got a good grooming on him. But that was the only good part of my day.
I was on my way to work when I must have run something over because I heard a sudden 'whooshing' noise. I'd popped one of my tires. So I thought 'Good, I'm going to be late for work' and looked for my cell phone to call my dad. Then I realized I'd forgotten my cell phone. Luckily I'd broken down infront of a store and they let me use their phone. I tried calling my dad. No luck, Kate was probably on the computer. Then I had to call work, but of course by then I was all upset and tearing like the girl I am. I couldn't remember my own work number and had to use the phone book. One of the young guys working there offered to help me fix my flat, but I couldn't find the jack. Finally I called Mom Mom and she came to pick me up and took me to work, only ten minutes late. Then I sat on register from 3-11, which completely fries my brain. But overall, it wasn't *that* bad, so I'm not really upset, rather groggy and fuddled. Hopefully it'll get better tommorrow. I need some sleep...

7:25 pm - The Random Misadventures of Carly P.
|
So I've gotten this neat little journal thing now... This shall be a cronical of my (mis)adventures, trials and triumphs while training my first horse Donnie, and a place for my random collection of craziness.
Feeling a little too sleepy to write something interesting now... I've cleaned two barns, fed six additional horses, played nurse's aide for my best friend's 103-year-old great grandmother, and made a trip to the mall. Perhaps when I'm feeling a bit more active I'll write something worth writing about. *yawn*
Moment of the day: When Kate exclaimed 'Weight Watchers' in the middle of the mall... ok, she actually said 'Wait, Watches' but it didn't sound like that to me.
