Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am now on vacation. I am off work for about a week and a half.

My plans this year are to go out to Las Vegas. I am meeting a friend out there. We will be there Monday through Friday. Tuesday night I am going to see Cher in concert at Caesar's Palace and while I see her my friend Mr. Owl is going to see the Phantom of the Opera show. I can't remember where his show is at.
Wednesday we are thinking maybe a LONG day trip over to see the Grand Canyon. That would still give us a day plus to relax/recover and do some more sightseeing in Vegas.
Ms. Raven was suppose to join us, but unfortunately her plans have changed. :( She didn't lose out though, she has a boyfriend. :)

If I happen to strike it rich, I ain't coming back. Well, not back to work that is.
So I am going to be away from the old computer for awhile. I shall miss you all. Seriously, I will. :) I will have a couple of days when I get back before going to work, so I might see if I can get on my brother's, or is it my nephew's, computer and at least thin out my emails. I am not looking forward to that. I am getting tons of political junk mail. BLAH....... We will see, if I have time to get aboard the journal train. When I do get back, I hope everybody will fill me in on everything I have missed.

Please take care everybody and stay safe. Especially my friends down in the Florida and Gulf region. All those storms seem to be heading your way.

HUGS...................................................

secretthoughts brought up the subject of cereals. I thought I would add a comment to that subject.

If anybody else is watching sodium intake like me, your best bet is Kelloggs Frosted Shredded Wheat. I believe all flavors are 0% sodium. :) I looked at other brands of shredded wheat and they are quite small %'s.
It's kind of shocking the %'s of sodium in most cereals. Even the very plain Rice Krispies is high.

Measure it! [05 Sep 2008|09:30am]

My husband is looking to shape up this fall (living with a pregnant woman isn't the best thing for a person's diet), so he decided to take a closer look at what he eats. Today, he started with his breakfast. His fave cereal is Raisin Nut Bran, which is a fairly healthy cereal as it is low in sugar (only 14g per serving), fairly high in fiber (5g per serving), and nutritious. The shocker came when he realized a few things:
-Thing 1-A serving is a scant 3/4 C. When he actually measured it out, he was shocked to see how little that was. Like most people, he hadn't been measuring his servings, and he had been eating way more servings than he thought.
-Thing 2- He found out that one serving is 200 calories, so if he was eating 2-3 servings, his breakfast could easily be 500-700 calories (assuming 1C of milk).
-Thing 3- We have two types of cereal bowls, so we looked to see what a 1 serving and 2 servings of cereal looks like in each bowl, that way he'd be able to eyeball a proper serving. We found that the small bowl perfectly held 2 servings of cereal and 1 cup of milk, but if you put the same amount in the big cereal bowl, it barely filled the bowl half way, which would make it really, really easy to eat too many servings.

Bottom line: Take the time to find out how many cals are in your fave foods; measure out proper serving sizes so you can see what they are, and take the time to see what they look like on your plate /in your glasses/in your bowls. It can be a real eye-opener, because after all, it's not just about what you eat, but also about how much you eat that can help you to lose weight.

Not a good one, really. I was wheezing before I got to the gym, did a mile on the tread at 2.4 speed 3 degree incline, worked out my legs on the leg extender machine at 60 pounds, 2 reps of 13 and called it a night, I didn't like the way people were looking at me. I simply cannot remember to put an inhaler in my gym bag! Better day tomorrow. PROMISE!

Found this interesting... 125 Best Packaged Foods For Women. Although I was leary about the "packaged foods" (as fresh and organic for me, please!) claim in the title, I would consider trying some new items that were listed.

Crappy b'day to meeeeeeeee crappy b'day to meeeeeeeeeeeeee ... Ok enough whining. I do from the bottom of my heart thank everyone who sent b'day wishes, made me feel a lot better :) Thank you so much!

To celebrate I went to the gym, this after not being there since last Thursday. I made my new minimum 1.5 miles at 2.8 3 degree incline and I was so proud. I had told myself, because three teenage boys had come in, since it was my b'day and all I could go home once I made my minimum. But instead I peeked into the weight room, it was free so, I worked out my upper, 2 sets of 12 @ 60 pound weight lat pull, 2 sets of 15 @ 20 pounds pec deck, 2 sets of 15 40 pound weight chest press.

GO ME!

Hey guys. I've been reading the community for a good amount of time while I've been trying to diet. You guys are awesome!. I finally figured out how to be a part of the community, too, so I'm really excited. My goal is to lose 20lbs by christmas and get myself to under 200lbs for the first time in literally, almost 8 years I'd say. I finally broke the 220 plateau i was at for so long, finally getting to 219!. I have an insulin resistance problem making it much harder for me to lose weight than normal people with regular dieting and exercising. I try my best though and slowly the weight HAS been coming off. About a year ago i was up to almost 240. So I'm hoping I can help all of you, the same way ya'll have been motivating me to keep going. :)

<3 Katie

Again was on my feet all day today at work. Got to the gym went 1 mile @ 2.8 with 3 degree incline, did 2 sets @15 front leg extension with 60 pound weights, 2 sets of 10 back leg extension with 60 pound weights, 2 sets 15 ab twists with 30 pound weight, 2 sets of 15 ab crunch at 30 pound weights. Both the ab twist and crunch I'm upping the weights to 60, too easy as is. No upper bod today will do that tomorrow, rotate out starting Monday.

Y'all would have been proud of me. More drama today with the coworker, but I zenned and just sailed through the day. Kept telling myself 'get ready because after work you go to the gym!' and I kept answering myself 'ok bring it on!'

So I got to the gym and did 2 miles at 2.8 and 3 degree incline plus cooldown, did 2 sets of 10 at 60 pounds on the lat pull, 2 sets of 15 at 40 pounds on the chest press, the pec deck was in use so as I was already tired I went on home. Pretty good for a Monday!

If you've been looking to buy new pilates or yoga stuff or more fitness gear or health stuff or whatever, you have to check out the big clearance sale at www.gaiam.com. It's their 6th annual sale, and the stuff is 20-75% off! I got pilates arm circles and a new higher intensity resistance band for like $20 (including shipping!); you can't beat that!

Goals and plan [24 Aug 2008|01:10pm]

[christinarenee3]
[ mood | excited ]

hello everyone....first off I want to say that i love you all lol....everyone's posts and articles are so helpful ....but i'm writing because i've officially decided on somewhat of a plan.....for breakfast i'm either going to have oatmeal, special k cereal, or cherrios lol more often... no ifs ands or butts....i've been having bagels smothered in cream cheese and i hate how i've been so attached to that kind of breakfast.... and every other day I'm forcing myself to have Silk (the soy milk) with my breakfast.....i've had it before and it's okay with cereal but i don't know if i could just drink a whole glass....lol i WANT to like that stuff (even tho i have a love affair with skim milk and will never give that totally up lol) :) i'm planning on buying more yogurt and granola too for a snack or even for a small lunch occasionally....and i'm going to eat more salad (we always keep it in the house but i never want to eat it) and my dinners are going to be wayyyyy smaller than they usually are....i'm going to try to stick to the plan where breakfast is your biggest meal and where you eat the most....lunch is slightly smaller and where dinner is small....obviously with snacks in between....but usually my meals are the exact opposite and you're not supposed to eat a lot at dinner...oops

My workout I've decided is going to be dedicated to the following.....pilates, swimming, walking, jogging, running, some weight training and the eliptical.....bc those are my favorites.....going to workout 30min-1hr everyday! bc i've noticed if i give myself like one day every single week...say sunday to not workout....i always give up early and change the days i won't workout when i get tired during the week....so my "breaks" since you're not supposed to workout constantly will be random and not as often

My goals are by the end of November.....to have lost 15lb and I want to lose another 15lb by my spring break in March

does this sound reasonable? i don't even know....
