I have been pretty healthy for the last couple of months.
But was down with fever yesterday..Partly due to the horrible weather these days..
Scorching hot!! eeeks...
After heeding Dearie's advice, decided to take the day off and rest at home.
With too many fone calls and sms, I have decided to switch off fone and KO with the drugs kicking in
It was a great sleep and I really need it badly..
For once, I just concentrate on the sleep and nothing else.
Felt much better today so now is to Hydrate Hydrate and Hydrate
What is expectations? Well, as you google, you will find some answers to it.
The act of expecting or anticipating.. Well, human pyschology, we always set high expectations be it for those around us , be it our love ones, our friends, relatives, colleagues and even our peers..
We usually have a baseline of what is required of something or some people.
If the person or the situation/encounter didnt meet that "min stds", usually one will be utterly disappointed
and would feel down because the "std" has been set!...
But then again, in the first place, why set high or even have minimum expectations? Expectations might be too unattainable and unrealistic. Once that bar has not been crossed, it will make one feel "lousy"...
Perhaps having low or even zero expectations would be ideal. Any "unexpected" turn of the situation could be viewed as a BONUS"
Some food for thought!
What exactly does a HR dept do? Well as the name suggest, Human Resources..
They should be taking care of our welfare right? But most of the time,
we are always at their mercy...
My recent encounter with my HR officer who is supposed to take care of my dept's welfare is certainly classic.
And of course Dearie's encounter with the XXX Hr Dept...
Good ness me... can someone really look into tackling serious HR issues.. and manage them well?
We are human resource not Machines please!!
Spent the weekend doing some spring cleaning at home to usher the tiger year....
Threw away some old stuff and repacked my drawers and wardrobe ..
Not forgetting the shoe cabinet...
Well, Dearie did the same.. His hse now is spick and span! Unlike the beginning when i first visited his hse.
*Evil Grin* Hee hee, Bacherlor's hse... What do you expect :P
Thumbs up... Its really like a home now.. :) Weeeeeee
Somehow after cleaning, the hse or even the room smells "fresh"...
Things are all in place! Neat and Tidy
While visiting Chinatown yesterday with my family (a tradition each year),
I bought some CNY decor on his behalf to brighten up the place. Haha, I got much more at home @-@
This morning I even got him a pair of Pineapple. to hang at the balcony
Well, Pineapple stands for "Wang Lai" direct translation. "Prosperity coming your way"
Its always good to keep this tradition as we are losing them all due to the influence from the west!!
"HUAT AH!!"
Uncle Ulu has finally brought Piggy back to see us!! I was really looking forward to see her since we last met in Christmas 08. I could still remember uncle braving the snow to pick me from beijing airport *touched* and piggy being so kind to put me at her place and show me around beijing... :)
It was just like a month ago or so.. but it has been a year.
I was very happy to hear Piggy's voice when she used uncle's fone to call me.
"Hello, Auntie ah.." - such a warm and familiar voice... that I've missed for a while.
She has lose some weight... arghhh must be uncle ill treating her and asked her to do more work!
But i could tell that she is really very very happy.. The glow on her face shows it all!
Well, look forward to seeing her again in Spore in Feb :) r
Since i have some time this afternoon, decided to visit Yoko to cover my greys +
trim (trying to beat the CNY rush). Might as well in time for Moo Moo's big day on wed!
As usual, the salons would stuff magazines while the clients patiently sit at on the salon chair...
Sometimes, its rather painful process.. especially with each visits taking between 2 to 3 hours
At times, if u are doing perming or rebonding.. it could be longerrrr.... Well, for the vanity..
its probably just worth it!
I was just flipping and one article caught my eye.. Decided to read on.
Basically the article was contributed by a lady who suffered from a failed relationship..She met her ex since 14 and agreed to marry him after a 10-year courtship. During the course of her romance, she suffered in silence while her ex had flings here and there. She also allowed him to "torture" her physically and emotionally..
After just few days after customary/honeymoon, she discovered that he was having an affair with a woman 18 years her senior (a divorcee with 2 kids)
The only thing that was superior was her financial standing and more "free time" for him(the wife was trying to make ends meet by working 12 hours a day). She decided to move on...
Sad as it may seemed.. But thats reality...
Relationships these days are totally too vulnerable. Too much distractions and seductions everywhere. With more knowledge and information, people are having expectations for each other..
The art of a true relationship certainly about not just communications, but also managing each others' expectations and sharing common aligned vision and of course having little interest or hobbies together.
It used to be simplier , during our parents' era... but its really quite complicated now..
Though certain encounters are misfortunate, always KEEP THE FAITH and just move on!
Believe that there is always light at the end of the tunnel...
Is evading issues always the best medicine to solve issues?
or rather "take" these issues on and brainstorm on possible solutions be a better antidote?
Recently i have many encounters with people evading issues, foolishly thinking that eventually
these problems will vanish in thin air...
Well, the truth is... dirt cannot be swept under the carpet all the time.
You can do it , once, twice but there is only this limit. Just like trying to pour water into an empty glass
there is only this much of capacity that the glass can fill before overflow happens.
its interesting to analyse human behaviour.. the way they react in all situations and how each person react to adversities in life.
Its just 9 days from the start of the new year and i already felt rather breathless.
What a way to start the new year. Some manpower issues cropped up at work and looks like i am left alone to juggle both the marketing and operations aspects of the event that is happening this june.
Hmmm.. was sharing with Valentine and G yesterday.
For the last two days of work, I felt that I have worked for 1 full year!
I found myself running ins and outs of meetings, answering calls, smses, emails and
endless discussions with my boss and colleagues. Had even crack a joke
"I am not wonderwoman and I dont just wear BRA".. haha what a crude way to put it but its certainly for real.
Imagine, you've got to handle your job + another load from 3 pax..
Its unimaginable!
I have stopped myself from working on weekends and week day nights even but looks like thats gonna resume.. Hopefully not too often.. I would just have to keep noises away and stay focus!
Well, all have been said. Lets just sit and wait and see how things go.. In the meantime, hanging there!
Back to Cameron Highlands after some 17 Years since the last geography school trip. This place has changed much over the years, more bustling now though its still rather "Remote" especially for city dwellers like us.
Besides rekindling some fond memories during school days, its also our first trip! :)
First picture that i took upon arrival (after slightly more than 10 hours of coach ride)
Managed to capture this spectacular view.
Well, Cameron Highlands is supposedly a place for relaxation. But we managed to join some land tours.
The tour guide brought us to the tea plantation where u see lots of tea leaves..

Well, some candid shots along the way...

Look at our oily faces!! haha, badly need freshen up after more than 10 hours of coach ride
Followed by the visit to the famous Boh tea plantation and factory
Entrance of the tea plantation

Well, we were also made to do some jungle trekking and lucky we were in our "Columbian" trekking shoes that could take all terrain... Phew!! :P
As it was pouring on the first night, we couldnt make it to town for dinner. Hence, we stayed in the hotel instead.
A martini before dinner at the Hotel's Coffee House.
I had the claypot Tofu with rice while Dearie had some Nasi Chicken set. YUMMY

On the second morning, we woke up at 5am to catch the sunrise.
It was my first experience and I must say, its really phenomenon!
From complete darkness to glowing sky.... Its really Beautiful beyond the description of words!
< I use the B/W mode>
The beautiful egg yolk.. so captivating!
After taking some short naps, we headed to the nearby market before going to the town centre to have dinner
This is really super yummy corns.. Its so sweeeeeeeeetttttttt.. heehee, just like me

For those who wanna a relaxing getaway, do visit cameron, though the coach ride is long.. its really worth it! Most importantly its the travel companion that counts right? (*-^)

Went with G to get my two sisters prezzie yesterday... well, Watch for each of them.
Had wanted to wrap up the prezzies and ask them to choose (like lucky dip)
Nat being the elder let the younger choose instead.
I must say the manufacturers take pain to design nice boxes these days...Especially the Ted Baker , its a book
Well, both of them ended up "fighting" over this classic design by French Connection
Well, guess it suits nat better
and Eve got this which is a lovely piece too from Ted Baker
After a torturous 2 plus hour glucose tolerance test at Mount E earlier today, I went to see my hairstylist.
As usual, I dont need to tell her what i want and she will just dictate what hairstyle that i will be wearing at least for 2 months.
Here goes.. so cute right???
The year is ending soon. Zoom and we are ushering into year 2010 in 23 days...
Honestly speaking, I m seriously not in the mood to do any work or "chiong" ...
Well, its year end "hello" time to "take a little break" and reduce "speed of work"
Its a season to be joyous right??????
There are so much sales going on... so much shopping to dooooooooooooooo
OOohhhh shopping just love it!!
And I think lots of FOODDIEEEEEEEEE too...
Oh gosh.. need to watch the waistline!!!!
My legs are still aching from the run on sunday... :P
Woo Hoo, Finally conquered my first Marathon today..
21Km at the Std Chartered Marathon 2009.
Its a realisation of my wish. Have wanted to do it for the longest time but have never embarked on it
With the encouragement from Cloud and Ling, i signed up for the 21Km this year..
I never knew i can do it at one SHOT without stopping and my timing was to me, superb, I managed to finish in 2hrs and 37 mins (according to Ling's watch)...
I am overjoyed and extremely pleased with myself for three main reasons:
1) The longest distance i ever covered was 14km max 15km. But today I covered 21km
2) I have never run non-stop for more than 1hr and 45mins (the last time was years ago with Ling at MacRitchie that we got lost)
3) The power of endurance (my knees were aching after 12km or so... I was never able to pass 10km as it usually starts aching after 5km)
Today, I have broken all old records and set new ones!
I am extremely pleased and delighted with my achievement as shown in this medal
I was just sharing with valentine earlier on the "run".
The first 5km to 10km, I was really running at a pretty fast pace, well my distraction was to "overtake" people
just like in racing car .. u overtake your opponent, it was FUN!
The next 5km, was observing people's apparels and shoes... The last 7 to 8km was endurance .. with the distraction from music from my MP3 (love you sammy.. that keeps me moving)..
Ling was definitely my motivation.. With her pacing me, its really great motivation for me to push my limit and press on. Without her, I dont think i could press on and complete in such great timing.
The last 2km was like the longest run ... its near yet not so near and by then, your knees, ankles are all aching like hell.. and u just wished to stop.. but its too close to the finishing line.
During the last 400m dash, Ling held my hand and we ran past the finishing line together. It was really a sense of achievement and satisfaction.
Well, you suffered the aftermath, with the super aching thighs... u wished that u are on wheelchair and need not move or walk much!
Still I am feeling GREAT!
Thanks to all the encouragement! G, Ah Chio, Ah Swee- Muaackzzz
Finally, my first marathon (well.. half) has arrived... Tomorrow!!
hahaha... wish me luck.. Havent been training much due to the travelling that has been ongoing since Sept
I hope I will survive man!!
Good luck to Ms Cloud and Ms valentine too!!
.
Today is my great granny death anniversary. So as per past practice, Mom would whip up lots of dishes for the offering.
Since i still have many days of leave to clear, decided to take a day off to help mom
and at the same time had a good catch up with Mommy...
We chatted about things. About aunties, uncles, cousins...
Me about my friends... colleagues..
Well, its really nice to be at home once in a while...
At the invitation of Ms Su, we had a little tea gathering at her place this afternoon.
Ms Su and Henry's little cozy home is certainly worth some compliments and for me to enter this blog entry.
The theme is "Zen" which uses a lot of "earth" colours.
Cloud commented that its Ms Su's fav colour since she is always in earth tones.
But i reckoned that both of them choose this warm colour for the WARMTH of their home sweet home.
Well, when u enter their home, it gives you a very warm feeling. The really great feeling of being at home!!
As you walked past the dining hall, you will enter the main living area (its actually divided by a little "drape" curtain). They have replaced the sofa with a day bed to make it even more cozy.
The kitchen is also well stocked, with lots of selection of TEA and a cupucinno machine (well, too bad Ms Su cant drink coffee these days). YOu wont missed the placements of some little souvenirs which they have collected during their travels and collection of nice fridge magnets that depict all the countries that they have been.
We were drawn to the photos that they took since 2001 till now. Henry has really taken alot of interest in dressing up their little sweet home and with photos like these, its walking down the memory lane. Its a sign of the love and commitment both of them have for each other.
Hmm... Ms Su was very encouraging.. that we would have a nice home as nice , if not nicer than hers the next time...
Heehee, I wanna have a nice and warm place to return to everyday (well, had tried earlier but failed .. (*-*!!!) ).... :P
Of course, we have also admired Ms Su's collection of clothes, shoes and bags... :P
Well, men will certainly ask, why would woman need so many clothes shoes and bags.
Our usual answer would be " its for different occassions". Especially with the word "SALe"
We would just flocked to the shop .. thats how the retailers earn.. without us, i gathered they would all close shop. Well, they should thank people like us who contribute to the economy. :P
Of course, we spent our lovely afternoon , enjoying the sandwiches that I made, the apple strudles bought by Ms Cloud, the fruit platter by Ms Valentine and nice G7 Coffee...
Well, i think this phrase " If i have a choice, I would........" has been overly use as an excuse??
I think its being abused.. Well, everyone has a choice in all situations..
You choose the option, make the decision and shoulder the consequences....
"Food for thought"...
A visit to Europe has always been my dream.. The only thing that I could relate to Europe is through media channels. So finally, to visit the flood control event, i have finally step into Europe.
Well this wont be my only trip to Europe.. Its just the beginning....
11 November 09 - After almost 14 hours of flight, super hungryy.. After checking in at Mercure Hamburg,
My first buffet breakfast.. Yummy
From hotel cafe,
After freshen up, Monica and I decided to take a walk to Hamburg Central... Well, its autumn now and its cold.. 6 degrees ..
Nice shots near the hotel

Hamburg Central is just 3 train stops away.
When we reached, we saw yummy bread and sausages.... Ooh... how can u resist these yummy sausages..

Mon and I decided to share the yummy fries and sausages...
After filling our tummy up with the yummy fries and sausages, we started our expedition and took a couple of nice pictures of the architectures...

Well, I have always imagine myself dressed in my warmers and walking in the cool/cold streets of Europe.. At last, dream turns reality..

This does resembles the SMRT buses right :P
After a pretty long exploration, its dinner time!.. We found this nice restaurant to have our dinner
Slurp - Yummy French Onion Soup
I had Turkey and Mushroom with Yummy Baked Potato! while Monica had her steak :P
Smiley faces after a hearty meal
12 November 09 - Visit to the Messe Hamburg event and National History Musuem in Hamburg
Along the way to the congress, we took pictures ...
I simply love the colours of the flora ...

After visiting the show, we had a little time , about an hour to visit the National History Musuem of Hamburg. This museum if I remember correctly was constructed in 1900.. i must say its a little "Creepy" and Monica didnt dare to visit the washroom...:P
Here, the history of Hamburg was told.. how a maritime port transformed into a city over the years... And how some of the early immigrants (Jews) "contributed" to the development.
13 November - Frankfurt.
Monica and I took a super early flight from Hamburg to Frankfurt for the mtg with VDMA.
I had this super "hard" sandwich and capuccino before catching the flight..
After the mtg at 1pm, we had some time to roam around Frankfurt central before catching an evening flight back home. I do miss home and friends, and of course G :P and with the jet lag.. its really bad!
Mon has been to frankfurt a couple of times and she decided to bring me to this lovely restaurant that serves very good pork knuckles (apparently its not available in Hamburg)
= infront of the restaurant...
and yummy draft german beer.. (well, i paid EUR2.50 for a 330ml of water ... so its more worth while to drink beer as you can get it for the same price!!) .. This explains why everyone drinks BEERRRRRRRR.
The menu and the real thing
= SUPER YUMMYYYYYYYYYY, Slurp
Oh i must say this waitress is super efficient. Its a one woman show i.e. She is the bartender, cashier, and waitress.. I am IMPREsSED..
Some pictures taken at Frankfurt Central

Before heading to the airport, Mon insisted we must have the "Nutella crepe"
monica next to the crepe cart.
Shiok!!
the nutella crepe.
Its 2.40am Spore Time 7.40pm Hamburg Time.
Zzzz.. Still suffering a little from the Jet Lag... and still led by the Spore timing.
Eventually, didnt go out dinner with Monica as she fell asleep and I wasnt that hungry as well..
More of sleepy and tiredness/weariness from the long haul flight (well, a good 16 hours)
I have been having lots of food in Germany, Sausages, pork knucles baked potatoes, fruits (yummy i love it).
Still no chance to savour the pork knuckles.. hmmm.. waiting for tmr for Monica to bring me..
Hmm.. tired already so maybe to get some sleep..to catch a morning flight tmr....
