Subject:New kd lang album released today
Time:8:15 am.
Mood: enthralled.
Music:Trail of Broken Hearts (kd lang).
According to amazon.com, kd's new album, Hymns of the 49th Parallel, will be released on July 27, 2004. That's today.

Thanks to amazon.com, I've already heard samples from the album. Verdict?

Good

Great

Awesome

Excellent

In fact, no superlative can begin to describe kd's voice on her new album.

She's back at doing what she does best - sing.

From what I've heard, it's a very bare album, just kd's voice and one other musical instrument, an acoustic guitar here, a piano there.

One other musical instrument?

Yup.

Don't you know?

kdlang's voice is a musical instrument all by itself.

Can't wait to get my hands on the album and listen to it in full. Burn an incense cone, dim the lights, and get ready to be transported to another realm.

Subject:Jukebox ... finally
Time:9:21 pm.
Mood: content.
Music:The Music is You (John Denver).
Just confirmed the price for my Nomad Zen Xtra 30GB. Yes, finally, after thinking about it for the longest time.

At one point, my first choice was an Apple iPod. But when I got to hold one in my hands recently, I realised it was not for me. Too delicate in my klutzy hands.

Meanwhile, I helped a friend get the Nomad Zen Xtra 30GB. And fell in love with it when I saw it. Okay, it's no beauty, but it's solid. And I've always preferred substance over style.

The decider came recently when I got really irritated by the inane chatter on the radio as I drive to work. And the car cassette system has been acting up, auto-reversing at its whim and fancy ... grr.

So, here goes. I took the plunge and sent a text message to my friend and local Creative distributor to confirm my order. And was pleasantly surprised with a lower-than-what-I'd-expected price.

Yay.

Can't wait to hold the Zen Xtra in my hands, and start mixing and matching favourite songs.

Two "can't waits" on the same day - kd's new album, and my very own jukebox. Both to do with music.

Which reminds me of a song by the late John Denver:

"Music makes pictures
and often tells stories
All of it magic
All of it true
And all of the pictures
And all of the stories
All of the magic
The music is you"

I don't think he wrote it, but it was on the same album as "Annie's Song" and in fact served as a prelude to that song, which I've always thought was most appropriate.

But I digress ...
