The other evening, I was playing my favourite online game, "Name that Song", with my favourite opponent, D. The purpose of the game is to name the title of a song based on the song's first line given by your opponent. My line for D went like this: "Even through the darkest phase" I think I went on to give the next line, but he still couldn't guess the tune. And when I told him, he kicked himself cuz he knew it. It was kd lang's "Constant Craving". Next, it was D's turn, and he gave this line: "I'm right on target, my aim is straight." Dang, it was familiar, but I just couldn't name the song title. He gave the next line, and the singer's name came to mind. Joan Armatrading. Now, one of the rules of the game is you can't google for the answer. But since I had correctly named the singer, and she's in my music collection, I didn't break the rule by going to her folder and looking for the title. Even then, I wasn't 100% sure, so I gave my answer with a "?" at the end. C: "Drop the Pilot?" D: Yes! After which, he mentioned Tracy Chapman as being in the same league as kd and Joan. I told him, kd and Joan, yes, but I wasn't sure about Tracy. And we left it at that. |
