Subject:Something happened
Time:11:48 am.
Mood: drained.
Music:Go Your Own Way (Wilson Phillips).
My Zire 72 lost all its battery juice sometime yesterday, and wouldn't power on in the early hours of the morning.

No big deal, it's happened before, but it also means there's something wrong with its battery.

I got into the office, plugged in the Zire 72 to recharge, pressed the power on button and the familiar Palm logo came on. After going thro the usual initial set-up, I went into the expansion card, tapped on backup, followed by the restore option. The following message came up:

"Do you want to restore one (1) file found in backup?"

One file? There's supposed to be more (many more) than that. Oops ... what happened?

Took out the card, popped it into the Dana's second expansion slot, and ran CardPro to check the card. It hung trying to open the Audio folder.

Next, the card reader attached to the desktop PC. The files in the Audio folder had totally alien names. Tried to delete, no can do, something about source file.

Then I noticed some unfamiliar folders in the root directory of the card. Also cannot delete. What to do but reformat the card.

All data lost? Not exactly. A few days ago, I'd left the card in the office and used a spare card at home to do the daily scheduled back-up. So I have that to restore the files, except it wasn't the latest back-up. Never mind, most of the files were intact, except for some stuff saved to the Z72 yesterday. Stuff which I thought were important - almost "life" to me - but have since realised they are not, and in fact, should not cling to.

Meanwhile, new entry at Chet's Chatter v1.

Some recent things to be grateful for
