AlphaSmart, Inc has announced a new product called AlphaSmart Neo. It's an improvement of the current AlphaSmart 3000, and while retaining its basic functions - to help writers write and do nothing else - has also been given the Dana's keyboard. I've used AlphaSmart products since 1998, beginning with the AlphaSmart 2000, followed by the AlphaSmart 3000, AlphaSmart Dana and AlphaSmart Dana Wireless, my current writing assistant (as I call the AlphaSmart family of products). I love the AlphaSmart 2000 and 3000 for letting me concentrate on the writing, and helping to speed up the process as I'm better at typing out my thoughts than handwriting them out. When the AlphaSmart Dana was released, it met my twin needs by combining a full-sized keyboard in a Palm powered PDA. Now, I can write as well as have full-fledged PDA functions at my fingertips. And when the AlphaSmart Dana Wireless was released, it brought more features to my fingertips, and away from my work desk, even away from home and office, too. For me, the AlphaSmart Dana Wireless is my writing assistant par excellence. And now there's AlphaSmart Neo. It has the Dana's keyboard, but not the PDA functions. It's an upgrade of the AlphaSmart 3000. It'll do well in schools, and among writers who only want a machine to help them write but not be distracted by other things. I'm glad AlphaSmart, Inc has released what promises to be yet another ground-breaking product (700 hours on 3 AA batteries and a Dana keyboard - these are just two of its ground-breaking features). For me, I'll stick with my Dana Wireless. However, as unofficial AlphaSmart rep in Malaysia, I look forward to helping promote the AlphaSmart Neo here soon.
