Fame also prevented Clooney from gift-shopping personally for the baby
son of one of his best friends, actor Noah Wyle. "Yeah, that would be a
picture. Me buying a baby jumpsuit." He has a long-time assistant,
Amy, who comes to the rescue at such times. "Yes, Amy did the shopping.
We sent a little outfit for baby Owen, who's not so little by the way.
He's a moose."

Noah Wyle recently announced his decision to follow in Clooney's
footsteps by leaving ER. Did the former Dr. Ross encourage his friend
to move on? "Well, Noah's done his dues now and he's at the age where
he'll have to go away for a couple of years, do smaller parts in films
and then be able to embrace other projects. It will take a while for
him to shake off Dr John Carter."

Wyle has also said he'd like Clooney to return to the show for his final
scene. "I'd do it for him in a heartbeat. He's one of my dearest
friends. But I don't know what the reason would be. I mean, I did it
for Julianna, but that made sense. Maybe I can just show up and do the
same thing."
