Fernando Llorente is ready to making a move to Juventus

Llorente close to a Juventus move

There is a real striker crisis developing at Tottenham Hotspur, and todays Transfer Rumours And Gossip columns are doing little to alter that fact.  Long term Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City target Fernando Llorente is reported to be on the verge of a move from current team Athletic Bilbao to Italian Serie A Champions Juventus.

Juventus have been on the lookout for a striker for the entire summer transfer window and like Tottenham Hotspur, have not managed to find and secure the appropriate signings as yet.  Juventus have made an offer of £14 million for Fernando Llorente already, which Athletic Bilbao rejected.  However, Llorente has since told his current club that he does not wish to extend his current contract beyond next summer, which has added huge amounts of fuel to the transfer fire surrounding him.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas Boas has a genuine concern surrounding his attacking options at White Hart Lane, with just 5 days to go until the Premier League opening fixture against a solid Newcastle United side.  At the current time, Tottenham Hotspur have just one recognised first team striker, namely Jermain Defoe.  Defoe did not feature very often under Harry Redknapp and has not lived up to expectations in any way, during his spells at The Lane.  He is an extremely pacey striker with excellant movement and a genuine finishers instinct.  However, for whatever reason, Defoe has never fulfilled the potential that everyone could see in him.

Could AVB be the correct manager to get Jermain Defoe firing on all cylinders?  Every single Tottenham Hotspur fan must surely be screaming...YES!!!

Juventus look to Luis Suarez, as RVP rejects contract

Juventus turn their attentions to Suarez

It is the story that no fan of Liverpool Football Club will like to hear, but Juventus have focused their transfer attentions to Luis Suarez, after the chase for Robin Van Persie hits a brick wall.

Juventus have persued Robin Van Persie for a long time now, since it was announced that he would not be lengthening his contract at Arsenal, based on Arsene Wenger's lack of ambition for the team.  This statement from the Arsenal talisman came as a stab to the heart for every Arsenal supporter, and alerted literally ever big club side across the globe.  Robin Van Persie had a storming season last term, managing to stay injury free, and topping the scoring tables for the Premier League.

However, it looks that Arsenal's reluctance to buy and attempt to build for the future has finally got to the player, and he will follow every other good player that Arsenal have ever had....out the club.  So many fans around the world have been pulling their hair out at the ludicrous nature of the behaviour of the Arsenal hierarchy, but it appears they are happy to allow Arsenal to stagnate and stay as a mid table outfit for the forseeable future.

Juventus have now turned their attentions to Luis Suarez.  Suarez has been a controversial figure at Anfield, and did not have the best season for Liverpool Football Club.  Perhaps the boo boys have started getting to him, but an offer to move out of his Liverpool hell could be like a godsend to the Uruguayan.

Aly Cissokho to decide between moving to Tottenham Hotspur or Juve

Spurs and Juve in the hunt for Cissokho

Today's Transfer Rumours And Gossip writers are claiming that Lyon wing back Aly Cissokho is the matter of a transfer war between Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus.

Tottenham Hotspur have been looking into the lively wing back for a few monthes now, and AVB has made Aly Cissokho his main defensive transfer target.  It was thought that a deal would be made in the very near future and the switch would be seemingly straight forward.  However, Juventus have now joined the party, after their pursuit of Manchester City defender Kolorov went cold.

Juventus were almost sure that they would get their man when they started negotiations over the possibility of transferring Kolorov to Italy.  Everything appeared to be going their way, until Roberto Mancini decided that Kolorov was to play a part in his future plans for Manchester City.  Mancini has stopped the potential move for Kolorov to Juventus at the last hour, forcing Juventus to look at other targets.  The Italian Champions have shifted their attentions to Aly Cissokho as a result, making Tottenham's life a lot more difficult than thought.

Aly Cissokho is 24 years of age and has enjoyed a very solid season at Lyon.  However, it has long been expected that Cissokho would leave during this summer transfer window.  It is simply a question of where he will end up.

AVB states Luka Modric wont leave Spurs for any other club

    Modric not going anywhere

According to the recent Transfer Rumours And Gossip articles, the Tottenham Hotspur manager AVB has stated that Luka Modric will NOT be going anywhere this summer, as Real Madrid back away from the deal.

The Luka Modric transfer story has rumbled on for more than 12 monthes now, with rumours that the player has been angry ever since he was stopped the chance to move to Chelsea last year.  Harry Redknapp had a real tough time on his hands last summer, as the pre-season prep were constantly over shadowed by the Luka Modric transfer.  Tottenham Hotspur had the worst start to a campaign for a long time, and it was clear to see that the issues with Modric had been the reason.  That blip at the start of the year, combined with a woeful end, cost Tottenham Hotspur a Champions League finishing spot and perhaps even a possible run at the Premier League title.  AVB has done all he could to avoid such a thing occurring again this summer, but with only 6 days to go until the EPL kicks off, nothing seems 100% solved.  Spurs are still lacking strikers and it will take a time for the Modric story to calm down sufficiently.  Does AVB leave the Croatian on the bench?  Leave him out of the squad completely?  Let him leave in January?

One thing is for sure, AVB has done well so far....but the next month could define his season, and that of Spurs.

AVB is set to start with Harry Kane upfront against NUFC

AVB set to start with Harry Kane upfront against Newcastle United

The striker crisis at Tottenham Hotspur may be less of a crisis, and more of an opportunity for young Harry Kane, as AVB looks set to start with the teenager upfront against Newcastle United on August 18th.

Tottenham Hotspur have been searching for an appropriate strikeforce for the entire close season now, but have yet not delivered.  There have been numerous players linked to Spurs, like Leandro Damaio, Fernando Llorente, Daniel Sturridge, Emmanuel Adebayor, Demba Ba, Hulk...the list is endless.  There have even been random tenuous links to previous strikers Dimitar Berbatov and Darren Bent!  Whilst these two forwards still may have a lot to offer their respective clubs and countries, it would have been a large step backwards, had Tottenham Hotspur decided to go down that road.

AVB has a clear idea as to what he wants to make happen at White Hart Lane in the future, and it seems to many like a marriage made in heaven.  Tottenham Hotspur are a club on the up, with the most loyal and passionate fan base in the entire Premier League, a historic style of play that their fans adore and that AVB likes to adopt.  AVB is a young, successful coach who will bring silverware to Tottenham Hotspur in a way that the Spurs supporters want to see.  Bringing a young striker through from the youth team to start his first competitive match in the EPL is just AVB's style, and the story could well be written that Harry Kane scores the winner, in true fairytale fashion.

Who needs a big name striker?
