Today's been great!
Neither of my parents are really going to be around tomorrow, so they both treated me as if it were my birthday. Mum got me this awesome perfume! Normally, I'm like "screw perfume, body spray any day," but this perfume has a story behind it:
Two summers ago, I was alone in Scotland with my dad. We needed to get new hand-luggage because ours were a bit destroyed from our daytrips. Dad decided to buy some perfume for my mum because she wasn't able to travel with us. He let me pick out the scent. Originally, the sales girl was pushing this heavy, toxic perfume. I asked if there was anything more subtle and she pulled out Givenchy's Hot Couture. It was perfect. We got back to the US and mom loved it. Unfortunately, so did I. It was a wretch giving it to her, it was so lovely... but it was her present and I knew she'd love it.
And now I have my own bottle. I wish I were better at discribing the scent. I think it smells like... on a cool spring day, lovely white sheets have just been washed covered in baby powder and large flower petals. Some review of it described it better: Hot Couture this unusual offering from Givenchy begins with a blast of raspberry (yes really!) and dies down through magnolia and pink pepper to a creamy amber, vetiver base. Lovely for a special night out.
Oh, sidenote, got accepted to Elon and got the Presidential scholarship. Don't plan on going there, though.
Dad, instead of getting me a birthday card, got me green carnations (in the spirit of St. Patty's Day). Carnations are and have always been my favorite flowers. I remember going to the little shop in town called "Handmadens" just so that I could pick out which complimentary carnation I would get with my mother's purchase. I prefer the natural or darker carnations, but the green ones are just the right level of funky fresh that I need right now.
Tomorrow, I'm 18! Yes, I am wearing a tiara. Sniff me tomorrow; I'll smell really good.
