The Talented and Fabulous Miss Blanchett [26 Sep 2007|06:26am]
[ music | Joydrop - Beautiful Like You (acoustic) ]

Oh I just soooo love Cate Blanchett--- divine, luminous, magnificent, regal... I will never run out of adjectives to describe this diva, and dare I day, gay icon.

I just found out that she's playing the Bob Dylan in a biopic that's like no other. The film is called I'm Not There, and according to IMDb, it's not strictly a biopic but rather ruminations on the life of Bob Dylan, where seven characters embody a different aspect of the musician's life and work. Interesting and also because I'm into Bob Dylan. Among other actors playing him are Christian Bale, Richard Gere, and Heath Ledger.

Cate as Bob Dylan. Wild!!!!

And now, she's reprised the role of one of my favorite icons, Queen Elizabeth I, a character she's owned in the 1998 film, Elizabeth (I haven't seen Helen Mirren in her TV series though.), and in which she was robbed of the Best Actress in Oscars by GP, no less. She plays opposite Clive Owen as Sir Walter Raleigh in Elizabeth: The Golden Age. It's Elizabeth with the red hair and extravagant gowns, baby!

As Elizabeth in the 1998 film. I am my father's daughter! Sorry GP, I love you, but Cate deserves it more.

The Virgin Queen in the 2007' film. Will the Academy finally award the Oscars to her for the same role she was nominated about 10 years ago and that was rightfully hers to begin with?! Abangan.

She also played the Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator for which she won Oscars Best Supporting Actress in 2005.

And let us not forget that she also played Galadriel in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings.

"Instead of a Dark Lord, you would have a queen, not dark but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! Tempestuous as the sea, and stronger than the foundations of the earth! All shall love me and despair!"

The gay Tolkien fan boy's dream role! Ahahahaha!

And those are only some of the characters she's given justice to onscreen. In the red carpet, she's the epitome of old Hollywood's class meets the modern star's glitz. In other functions, she dresses appropriately, sensibly and elegantly. Her color choices are interesting and always compliment her beauty. I'm sorry, but even the overrated Nicole Kidman, acting-wise and fashion-wise, cannot touch her level of glamour and finesse.

Doesn't she have shades of Tori Amos?!?! She can easily play her in a biopic. And have I already said that I looooveee Cate Blanchett?!?!
