160 episodes. Ang pagwawakas. The magical world of Encantadia has ended.
The show had a very good run. How it was able to sustain and maintain its story and excitement is a big achievement in itself (unlike Darna that I couldn't care less na tapos na siya or Kampanerang Kuba na wala na akong balak na alamin pa kung ano nang nangyayari). How it appealled to the masa and not so masa audience is another thing. One of the show's greatest strength is that the story has a foundation and structure. Hindi kung ano ano lang ang nangyayari na hindi pinagiisipan. Sure, it's a Lord of the Rings ripoff, and there's no use in hiding that, but the good thing here is that it was able to weave colorful subplots and characters and added Filipino touch to them. In the end, the writers were able to come up with a myth that they can call their own. The ending was a bit rushed, though. Medyo anti-climactic. But all in all, Encantadia rocked.
The cast is wonderful. It was delightful to see Iza Calzado play Amihan. Her character has gone through a lot. I cried on the 159th episode when all the fairy sisters reconciled and the spirit of Inang Reynang Minea, played by the divine Dawn Zulueta, visited them, and she cried and asked for forgiveness dahil bumagsak ang Encantadia sa pamumuno niya. So touching. Her manner was very regal, reynang reyna talaga, thus giving justice to her role. Of course, mahal na mahal ko si Pirena. Sunshine Dizon has been around for quite a while pero sa character lang ni Pirena niya napakita what she's really made of. This girl is a very good actress. Give her meatier roles please. Diana Zubiri, as Danaya, was also fun to watch. Nagimprove ang acting ng potah as the episodes progressed. Lutang din ang strength and vulnerability ng character niya. Nakakatuwa pa ang love team nila ni Aquil (Alfred Vargas). As for Alena, deadma. Hindi ko like ang character niya at hindi ko rin like si Karylle ahahahaha. Wala talagang bearing sa'ken si Karylle. Wish ko nga na sana namatay na lang siya nung nagmamahadera ang character niya after namatay ni Kalil (Jay Cuenca).
 Although the lead fairy princesses were quite interesting, I found more delight in the secondary characters. I never cared for Dingdong Dantes until I've seen him as Ybrahim. Any yummy niya, grabe!!! Aliw din 'yung mga sidekicks niya. At hello, ang gwapo ng mga alipores ni Aquil hahaha!! Katuwa din si Imaw. His kingdom, Adamya, has its own story to tell. Sana we'll get more of that in Etheria.
Even Lavanea, played by the exotic Juliana Palermo, was interesting kahit naka-3 episodes lang siya ata. But my favorite is Cassiopeia played by the lovely Cindy Kurleto. Her own story wasn't tackled much, but her character development is prominent and her kingdom's history is very interesting. Etheria's mythology is as interesting as Lireo's that it requires a new show altogether. Nakakaiyak when she cried nang makita niya sa kanyang mahiwagang kawali kung sino talaga ang pumatay sa parents niya.
I wish I can say the same for Lira (Jennylyn Mercado) pero hindi ko naramdaman ang pagkareyna niya at hindi ko nafeel na siya ang tagapagligtas ng Lireo. Mas developed pa ang character ni Mira (Yazmien Kurdi). Nagustuhan ko tuloy si Yazmien nang 'di oras ahahaha. This girl has potential. May depth siya umarte and very pretty too. Napadownload tuloy ako ng I Know and In the Name of Love ahahhaha!! Deadma rin lang kay Anthony (Mark Herras) dahil hate ko ang pagkajologs niya. Mahuhusay din ang mga kontrabida na sina Pen Medina as Hagorn, Polo Ravales as Hitano, Bobby Andrews as Asval and Leila Kuzma as Agane.
It also didn't hurt that the soundtrack (Hail Bayang Barrios!), props and special effects were well polished and not trying too hard. I hope Etheria will be as good as, if not better than, Encantadia and will have a good number of followers as well. I didn't know that Encantadia has many followers until I got to the office one day, and the people in the pantry were all hooked watching the show.
I have questions though. To those who watched Encantadia, remember that kid na kasama parati ni Lira when she first entered Encantadia? Anong nangyari dun? And bakit si Cassiopeia minsan nagsasalita, minsan through her head lang?

And dahil namention ko ang Darna, I developed a crush on Katrina Halili eversince I saw her as black Darna. I really find her sexy and pretty, and for the second time, I was tempted to buy FHM ahhahaha!!! The first time was when Dina Bonnevie was on cover. Pero naman, que horror, I was so turned off. She was asked in Extra Challenge, along with that pretty tisayin girl na anak ni Bong Revilla dati sa Idol Ko si Kap and Ella B (of Viva Hotbabes, I think), kung sino ang one of the richest men in the world na founder ng Microsoft. Putangina, si Ella B lang ang nakasagot. Beauty without brains ampotah.
