Nasaan Ka Man [11 Jul 2005|05:13am]
[ music | Ryan Cayabyab - Araw Gabi ]

Met up with Arlene last Wednesday to apply in this jologs call center in Ortigas, the one that I mentioned here. So we took the exam that day. We both passed and were asked to come back the following day for the initial interview. And so we did. It was a panel interview, and we were divided into 2 groups. Arlene was with the first one; I was with the second. We were 7 in my group, and I was the only one with call center experience. We were asked the usual questions, and I was very uneasy answering them because I don't want to sound mahangin to my co-applicants. Like, we were asked why we want to work in a call center. Super lalim ng mga sagot nila, as in todo explain ang mga loka, kesyo it's a booming industry chuva. Nung turn ko na, ang sagot ko lang was, "Because I talk a lot, and it feels rewarding every time I'm able to help a caller." The interviewer also asked us why they should hire us. Syempre kanya-kanyang pagbubuhat ng bangko. Kesyo they're hard-working, willing to learn eklavu. I just answered, "Because I have very good communication skills and an impressive background in customer service."

Anyway, I passed, but sadly, Arlene didn't. I was asked to go back the following day for the final interview pero 'di ko na sinipot. I really don't want to work there because it's just some 3rd class call center, but I want to have it as one of my options because fixed ang schedule nila, morning shift, 6am to 3pm, and I really want to take 2 jobs para makapag-save, isa sa morning, isa sa gabe. Good luck di'ba, sana kayanin ko ahaha! And sobrang tagal ng job offer ng West, I swear, next century pa ata ang hinayupak na 'yun. Anyway, the main reason why hindi ko sinipot ang final interview was because sobrang na-turn off ako. I saw a highschool classmate na super duper jologs at marungis na nagwo-work dun. I swear, hindi ko yata kakayanin that we'd be working in the same company so deadma na.

After the first interview last Thursday, Berns, my super duper girl best friend, and I met up. She formally introduced me to her boyfriend, Mike. Verdict: not cute pero mukhang mabait and as long as he's treating Berns right and my girl is happy with him, I'm cool with it. The guy left din agad. Berns and I had lunch. Then, she bought a pair of sandals, and we watched Nasaan Ka Man. We missed the first 15 minutes of the movie and hindi na rin naman inumpisahan because she was starting to feel feverish already.

Nasaan Ka Man is just ok. I personally didn't love it or like it to say the least because I wasn't overwhelmed by the movie as a whole although it wasn't bad at all. First time director Cholo Laurel showed great potential, and there were many impressive shots. The cinematography was great, the pacing was just right althought it became quite dragging towards the 3/4 of the film, and the movie really looked beautiful and very well polished. For instance, I was very impressed with the Diet-Claud rape scene. It was subtlety done, not too graphic, but the intensity was there. The Echo-Claud love scene was also sensational (but the best pa rin 'yung love scene ni Claud with Piolo Pascual in Milan).

As for the story, let's say it's not your typical Pinoy plot, but neither was it very original, and it didnt't help that the writer (Ricky Lee?) chose a very popular concept to borrow. Hello, The Sixth Sense and The Others with touches of Ghost in the ending. That's what didn't work for me because the moment Echo came back after he fell from the cliff, ay Sixth Sense na ito. It was too obvious. So when it was revealed na si Echo nga talaga 'yung ghost because all of Diet's shots made him look like he was a ghost, I wasn't surprised and affected na. Sayang.

As for the cast, everybody did a great job, but I wasn't impressed with Jericho Rosales because he's been playing the same character in all his movies except siguro Tanging Yaman and Bagong Buwan. This is maybe Claudine Baretto's quietest role to date, and she was very good. She was reserved and emotional at the same time, and haller, ang flawless niya ha, thank you, Glutathione. The usually lifeless Diether Ocampo was unusually good here. Although, he overacted in some parts, he gave out a pretty decent performance as his was the most challenging role among the three lead actors. Hilda Koronel and Gloria Diaz were also very good, comic in one scene, emotional in another. As sisters, their chemistry is believable. I just can't help but notice how beautiful the 1969 Miss Universe still is. Compared to Hilda who was so beautiful when she was young at nagmistulang isang diyosa as Ligaya in Maynila: Sa Kuko ng Liwanag, mas maganda pa rin talaga si Gloria. She looked so regal at halatang walang niretoke sa mukha (I'm looking at you, 1973 Miss Universe), aging gracefully talaga ang lola. Irma Adlawan was also noteworthy despite a short screen time.

Overall, not a waste of money and time, but the story could have been so much more. At siyempre dahil Star Cinema, sobra sa hype ang movie.

1. Reply with your name and I will write something I like about you.
2. I will then tell what song/movie/icon/etc reminds me of you.
3. If I were to apply an o'clock to you, it would be...
4. I will try to name a single word that best describes you.
5. I'll tell you the most memorable moment I've had with you.
6. I will tell you what animal you remind me of.
7. I'll then tell you something that I've always wondered about you.
8. Put this in your journal.
