 I'm very happy for Iza Calzado for winning Best Supporting Actress in this year's Gawad Urian Awards. The moment I saw her in her Pantene commercial, I really found her pretty right away. I think she's the last Pantene endorser na classy at pwedeng i-level to other Pantene endorsers like Angel Aquino and Chin Chin Gutierrez. Anjojologs na kase ng mga ads ng Pantene ngayon. When I first watched her act in some GMA shows, I thought that she has acting potentials, and her winning last night confirmed it. I saw Sigaw, and she was good in it, though I'd rather see her win for Milan. Plus, I saw her S-files interview a while ago, and she is smart, hindi olats magsalita and very sensible. At dahil jan, kasama na sya sa Local Celebrity A List ko which is getting shorter and shorter by the minute.

 At sabe na nga, Urian is so predictable. I know that they're going to choose between Judy Ann Santos in Sabel or Nora Aunor in Naglalayag for Best Actress. Juday it is. I was rooting for Claudine Baretto in Milan. Juday is a good actress, but her acting style is limited. Between Juday and Claudine, Claudine is the better actress for me simply because she is versatile; Juday isn't.
I first took notice of her acting potentials in that soap na triplets ang role nya. She was able to give justice to the different characters that she's portrayed in that soap. Then there was her team-up movie with Rico Yan, Dahil Mahal na Mahal Kita, na talaga namang nagpaka-late ako sa work para lang matapos sya when it was shown sa cable ahahhaa. She was good in Anak, and I thought that there were some scenes that she overshadowed Vilma Santos. She was also good in Got 2 Believe, medjo pilit, but she proved that she can also do comedy. Her other notable performances include Calvento Files: The Movie, Soltera, and Madrasta. I love her in Kailangan Kita, pero different levels ang acting nya sa Milan. Maraming layers ang character nya, and yes, she was impressive. Sayang, she didn't win; Urian would have been the ultimate recognition. I can't wait to see Nasaan Ka Man. With Juday naman, aside from Sabel, she can only boast of her performances in Magkapatid and Lupita Kashiwahara's Babae.
I don't care if Claudine used to be a bad girl or kung ilang beses na sya nagpa-abort or if she was such a bitch to Rico Yan, or kung anlutong nyang magmura when she tripped in ASAP, basta I think she's a competent actress. And yeah, she's included in my A list hehehe.

Kudos to Gawad Urian for supporting independent movies. As I've predicted, Cesar Montano's Pananaghoy sa Suba or Lav Diaz's Ebolusyon ng Pamilyang Pilipino or both will win Best Picture. Both won. Hurrah. Urian is a sucker for these kinds of movies, it's not a surprise anymore kung bakit pa sila nag-tie. Urian has questionable choices (Wendell Ramos in Sabel over Dennis Trillo in Aishte Masu for best supporting actor?!?! Poor Dennis, hindi tuloy nag-grandslam!!!), but it's the only award giving body that matters.

Poetry doesn't belong to those who write it; it belongs to those who need it, sabi nga ni Mario Ruoppolo sa pelikulang Il Postino. But for Lav Diaz, that would translate to Cinema doesn't belong to those who direct it; it belongs to those who need it.
 Lav is one of the greatest Filipino screenplay writers and directors of the recent times. I can tolerate a 5 hour movie, but even that is too much. But a 10 hour movie?!?! Lav, are you out of your mind?!?!?! Batang West Side is one of the best Filipino movies, and it is also one of the most compelling and most original movies I've seen in a long time, but it has one major flaw. It is too fucking long. It badly needs editing. Madaming good shots pero pwede nang tanggalin. May mga shots na nagdadrive lang si Joel Torre, and it would take about 3 minutes. You know that last scene in Wor Kang Wai's Happy Together? 'Yung asa Niagara Falls si Tony Leung? That was a great shot, but it's too effing long. Now, multiply that scene ten times, that's what you get in Batang West Side. I haven't seen Ebolusyon ng Pamilyang Pilipino yet; it won Best Picture at the Urian, but if you think that watching a 5 hour movie in a moviehouse is way too tiring (and it is, ansakit sa pwet ha! I watched it with KatKat, Marjo, Ver, and Vyron in Greenbelt years ago.), what more a 10 hour movie?! And you cinematographers of that movie, you wish na sana mabuhay ang totoong pelikulang Pilipino, but who in their right mind would want to watch a 10 hour movie?!?! At anong sinehan ang gugustuhing magpalabas ng ganun?! Sobrang lugi 'yun ha! Lav, please don't let conceit get the better of you.

 So Kris Aquino is getting married to James Yap. Part me of is happy for her, but a greater part of me is hating her for being sooooo self-centered. Gawd, she's the most self-absorbed person that I know of. She would always start an interview (more like a press conference, actually) by saying, "I don't want to make it public..." Gawd, if you don't want to make it public, then fucking don't! You are making an spectacle out of your sorry life!!
I empathized with her during her Joey Marquez episode, but what did she do?! She forgave Joey. In her last TV Patrol interview, she said that she will never talk about Joey again. Nangyari ba? Hindi! Because every chance she gets, she would mention Joey and all the men who are courting her. She's sooo obnoxious.
And I hate that she endorses products which you know she doesn't use. Haller, San San?!?! Kissa Papaya?!?! Why would she even use a papaya soap e simputi na sya ng radish. True, she's an effective product endorser because she's always in the news. And why not if you have perfected the career of making yourself ubiquitous. So, I'm sorry Elsie, Kris' biggest fan haha, but she's on top of my Local Celebrity Hate List.
Pero ever curious ako ha. If you've seen her The Buzz presscon a while ago, ano kaya 'yung pinagtapat sa kanya ni James Yap about himself na ayaw sabihin ni Kris that according to her proved that he really loves her because he was so honest to her. I only have two guesses. Either, he was a callboy or he's impotent. In fairness, cute ang James Yap. How am I related to him kaya?! His full name pa is James Carlos A. Yap, and my father's full name is Carlos A. Yap. Ehehehe!
