Same ole Bridget [09 Dec 2004|11:05am]
[ music | Rufus Wainwright Feat. Dido - I Eat Dinner (When The Hunger is Gone) - Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason ]

Watched Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason with lotusflower last night, and it was SOOO SOOO funny. Just a warning though, if you still haven't seen it, there are spoilers ahead. Of course, the Renee Zellweger reprises Bridget Jones, that 30 something, slightly overweight, British singleton (Ooops, not anymore!!!). Same clumsy Bridget, same flawless posh British accent, funnier if I may, and fatter. God, she was FAT at the turkey curry buffet scene!!!! As in parang iisa na lang ang mukha at leeg nya!!! How can she gain weight like that in just a snap?!!

The sequel is funnier only because slapstick humor is abound, which is my complaint actually. Masyadong hini-light ang mga kagagahan nya to the point na nagmukha na syang tanga. Funny, but a little too much. Like that scene na na-splash-an sya ng water or that skiing scene. Funny, but they didn't do anything to Bridget's character. We just laugh at her, but no, we should be laughing WITH her.

Renee has lots of memorable scene in this movie. I especially love it when she just plays it quiet. Like when she asked Mark Darcy if he really mean not marrying her. I love it when she talked to Mark inside the Thai prison. You can really feel her longing, but she was just holding back. I looove loooove it when she returned to her cell, and her Thai inmates asked her what's going on, and she was supposed to be happy because she was going in a week, but she was crying because she thought that Mark doesn't love her anymore. Great great acting. Her Like A Virgin scenes were sooo funny, and I was really laughing my ass off when she answered, The correct answer is Lucky Star to the dinner quiz. Ahahahha that was soooo funny. Another funny scene was when she was bangag, sobrang laff trip talaga. Ang galing nya dun I wonder kung nabangag na nga sya at one point in her life. Nakakatawa 'din 'yung she was trying to buy a pregnancy test. Laff trip talaga. And I was really laughing my heart out when she shecked on her weight after she broke up with Mark. Weight: 4000lbs. Wahaahhahaha!!!

By the way, lotusflower and I planned to laugh the hardest and loudest last night, but no, may 2 old ladies naman na talaga naghihiyawan at halos humagalpak na sa kakatawa. I swear, nakakatawa na nakakainis sila ahahhaa!

Hindi ko feel na ginawa nilang lesbian si Rebecca, mas gusto ko 'yung character nya sa book. I also didn't like that there was too much Daniel Cleaver in the sequel. Funny 'yung fight scene nila ni Mark Darcy though, funnier than the first one. As expected, BJ TEOR is a disappointing book to film adaptation of the uberly funny sequel to the Bridget Jones's Diary novel.

Overall, BJTEOR is not a bad movie. It's very funny, yeah, but they could have shown more BJ character development. Although the sequel is funnier, the first movie is still better story-wise. And although Renee was outstanding, I don't think mano-nominate sya sa Oscars uli for this role. Malamang sa BAFTA na lang and sa Golden Globe.

And how could I forget. Papa Colin Firth was tooo yummy!!! Grrrr!!!
