Oh yeah, she still reignes! [08 Dec 2004|10:13am]
[ music | Regine Velasquez - Songbird ]

Let me just say that Regine Velasquez's Reigning Still was a major blast!!! There weren't many special effects, and maybe she doesn't need them because her presence alone is captivating. Reg (Reg daw talaga o ahahaha) is one of those singers who sounds better in flesh because her birit moments may seem too overbearing on TV, but her presence makes up for it when you watch her perform right in front of you.

She started the night with a Phantom of the Opera (I knew she was gonna get something from La Brightman!!!!) inspired production number of Could It Be Magic na may chuvang magic eklavu pa on the side courtesy of Eric Mana, who was soooo cute!!! Crush ko sya!!! Ahahhaa!

Then nagpasexy ang bakla while singing and dancing to Toxic. Tapos she sang a medley of her famous ballads, Tuwing Umuulan At Kapiling Ka, Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang, Dadalhin, and Pangako with rain chuva ala Usher singing Confessions in the recent MTV Music Video Awards pero syempre she wasn't standing in the fake rain.

Tapos if my memory serves me right, she sang 'Di Bale Na Lang with Andrew E. Ohgod, I hate Andrew E. so I didn't enjoy that number much.

I'm not sure na kung anong chronological order ng mga songs nya pero she literally joined the audience and sang Ako'y Iyong Iyo (Ogie Alcasid was in the audience and she requested him to sing the first lines of the song) and Perfect while posing with the audience to have her pictures taken. I swear, ang bakla bakla nya and super funny ng mga birit nya. Ang galing nyang sumakay sa mga hirit ng audience, and that's one of the reasons why I love watching her concerts. It's definitely something that Lani Misalucha and Jaya don't have.

And then Sarah Geronimo came out and she sang To Love You More. Umappear din ang Sheryn Regis ang kumanta ng Come On In Out of The Rain. At of course, Kyla was also there, and she sang her own version of Over The Rainbow, and I swear, ang galing galing ni Kyla!!! Super mega sigaw to the max talaga ako!!!! I mean, halller, it's hitting two birds with one stone!!!! Reg and Kyla!!!! I love love love the R 'n B princess!!!! Kung si Regine ay mega birit, minsan lang bumirit si Kyla which makes it more special kase may mga times na kala mo hindi nga maabot dahil sobrang liit nya, but no, super maaabot nya more than I'd expect. Saan nanggagaling ang boses ng babaeng iyon?!?!?! Ang liit liit nya pero grabe sya humirit. Although, mas maliit si Sheryn Regis pero I'm sorry, hindi ko sya like. May times na nag-off key sya sa Come On In Out of The Rain, and her voice is just too matinis and ipit. Si Sarah naman, well, keri lang, 'wag lang syang masyadong OA. I swear, I hate her Jolibee ads.

So anyway, mega kanta sila 'dun, at lahat sila ay naka-yellow gown, at lumabas ang Regine na naka-pale yellow na gown (gusto kong color for my CR ahahhaa!) na napakahaba ng laylayan na parang gusto kong paggugupitin, and together with the divalettes (excluding Kyla, har har har, biased), she sang Jennifer Holiday's I Am Telling You I'm Not Going To (at syempre, thanks to Toshi, for the info!) which she referred to as the patayan medley. I swear, ang sobrang galeng nila!!! Mega standing ovation talaga ang drama ko!!! That was my favorite part of the show.

Francis Magalona sang The Reason, and Regine also sang a In The End and Bring Me Life medley with him. I didn't like this number very much because first, Regine, try as she may can't do rock, and second, nasasapawan sya ng boses ni Francis na hindi ko alam e tenor pala. Pero panalo ang suot nya dito na black fur!!!

And hindi ko na alam kung anong sumunod pero she sang a soulful rendition of Basil Valdez's Kailan while two pairs of dancers ay naglalambitin sa background nya. I also love that part.

Tapos, nag-back up sya kay Jasmine Trias, who was singing Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw in her music video for Smart, and I swear, kaya lang nasingit ang number na ito dahil major sponsor ng concert ang Smart, but Regine sang it beautifully so deadma na. Jasmine Trias should feel very honored, though.

She also sang Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin, Pangarap Ko'y Ikaw, In Your Eyes, Lara Fabian's I Will Love Again, Say That You Love Me, Ang Aking Awitin, Tell Me (with Ariel Rivera which she introduced as her ex eheheh). Hmmm.. ano pa ba... 2020 you have to help me out ahahaha!!

And she sang U2's Pride in The Name of Love with the San Miguel Master Chorale. Supposedly her My Miracle, I Believe (not sure if this his the title of the song), and I Believe I Can Fly medley was her last song pero nagka-encore pa which was really madaya coz a friend who watched the Friday concert said that she sang this medley at the middle of her concert. Hmph. So she sang this medley, still with the San Miguel Choir, while her pictures from when she was just starting to join small time singing contests to where she is right now, a diva to the highest heavens, were being shown on the big screen. That's my third favorite part of the show.

Tapos, ayun nga, nag-encore kunwari and she did a Michael Jackson medley: Billie Jean, Bad, Beat It, and Thriller. She was funny coz she was doing the moonwalk pero alam naman nyang she sucked at it, so she was laughing at her herself. After nun, encore chuva ulit, and she sang Shine.

One more thing, panalo ang mga gowns ng bakla!!!!! She first wore a pink gown nag-sha-shining, shimmering, splendid talaga! Tapos may blue gown din sya na medjo see through, and syempre, her yellow gown. Meron din syang red gown na pinatong nya lang. So fab!!!

So ayun, it was really a fun night, and I totally enjoyed it. Pero I really have to say this, horror of horrors, pumiyok sya sa Tuwing Umuulan at Kapiling Ka!!! I swear, may part dun na gumaralgal ang boses nya, pero keri lang dahil na-redeem naman nya ang vocal prowess nya sa mga birit songs that followed!! Also, this is quite sad because my friend who watched the Friday concert said that the Friday audience wasn't responsive, and Reg was literally begging the audience to, well, react. Sadness. The fashion show in the beginning was boring din daw. No wonder, I was expecting a fashion show last Saturday but nada. They scrapped it, I guess.

By the way, special thanks to flat_footed for supporting me that night. As in he literally paid for everything--- my food, my transpo, everything!! Gracias, mi amigo. Mwah!
