There are times that even I think of myself as overrated.... not today.
~Meryll Streep after winning this years Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Mini Series
Meryll Streep was soooooo funny!!! Hers was the funniest speech of the night followed by Elaine Stritch's. My god, I'm soooo dying to watch Angels in America, haaallllleeeeerrrrr!!!!!!
And finally!!!! After 6 consecutive years of being nominated for Outstanding Actress in a comedy series, Sarah Jessica Parker nailed it! Hers was the most applauded speech of the night. And she was funny, too. I thought she'd even thank her gynecologist.
And I was so glad that Cynthia Nixon won the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series after being nominated for 3 consecutive times. Her speech was just moving. I was rooting for her or Kristine Davis, but Nixon is clearly the better choice. I'm just sad that Kim Catrall didn't win any award for her equally outstanding performance in Sex and the City after being nominated for 5 consecutive times in the said category. As for Kristin Davis, she's lucky to have been nominated once, and she deserved it. She acted her pants off in the last season.
Anyway, I'm so happy for the girls!!!! Too disappointing Sex and the City didn't win this year's Outstanding Comedy Series. But with its 6 consecutive nominations and 2 wins for Outstanding Comedy Series, well, that's not bad at all! I was close to tears when Nixon won. I was crying already when they were showing this farewell chuva on the TV shows that had already ended. I was bawling when Parker won. I was bawling with Davis. Ahahahhaa!! Tsk, oh well. They just had to give the comedy series award to someone else besides HBO because they got this year's Outstanding Drama Series. Finally, after 5 consecutive nominations for the said category, The Sopranos had already won!
In toto, this year's Emmys is fun and exciting, and the best Emmys I've seen in a long time. That part about the "reality" couple who handed the award for the Outstanding Reality Series is a genius! I'm gonna watch it again later ahehehee!!!!
