"Did you ever see the customers in a health-food store? They are pale, skinny people who look half dead. In a steak house you see robust, ruddy people. They're dying of course but they look terrific."

Reminds me of the people at Duck Coup Soup... the health food store in the next town. My dad asked me why they all looked "anorexic" and I told him they were probably all vegans. Although, it upsets me when he comments on skinny people with a statement having to do with anorexia. Just because someone is skinny, doesn't mean they have an eating disorder. It's just that the seriousness of the disease is nothing to joke about, just as with any other diseases. You don't really hear people saying in a joking way: "Maybe he/she is dieing of liver cancer" if they look skinny or sickly.

"One of life's mysteries is how a two-pound box of candy can make a woman gain five pounds."

I'm dieing to know that answer...
