    Time Event
    9:48a
    I had a dream that it was move-in day and I was living with Katie (from the Japan trip). Our room was on the third floor and after we got settled in we decided to check out the fourth floor, which happened to be a hot springs. We wandered around a little but the cheapest pool we could find was about 5000 yen so we decided to forget about it. All the bathers were stuffed toys who glared at us as we wandered from pool to pool so I got the idea that we weren't welcomed there.
    Katie went back to the room but I went on the elevator, only to discover that they had run out of rooms and had built a bedroom connected to the elevator where two girls lived. When I commented on what a crappy living situation they have, one of the girls responded;
    "At first I thought I was going to puke, but you get used to it. I play music loudly so people don't have to listen to the elevator music."
    I thought that was fair enough and got off at the first floor.

    Because apparently I'm a glutton for punishment, I've decided that my term project this semester will involve yet another public speaking event. I don't think this one is a competition though so I won't have to worry about looking like a total failure, at least!

    I was reading a piece by Tawada Youko called "Kakeru," which is just kind of poking fun at all the different ways this one verb is used. Apparently there is more to the piece but only a short excerpt was included. Anyway, I plan on either writing something similar (if I find a good enough verb and suru is not an option) or reciting either the passage I have or another one that I can hopefully find through the Internet.

    I wasn't going to stress myself out by doing this but I've decided that, hell, may as well do it. I also would really like to do the B.A./M.A. program they have for Japanese so having stuff like this shows that I'm a "serious student" and all that jazz capable of handling it. (The program, by the way, means that I would be working on getting an M.A. in Japanese along with my B.A. in a total of five years.) What am I gonna do with an M.A., you might ask?

    Lick it, I suppose.

    ガンバロウ!
