Today I woke up to see that snow had fallen, much to my annoyance. Because I didn't know how far away the engineering building was and how long it would take me to find my class, I left around 8:12. I found the building easily enough but I wandered around for a few minutes trying to find the stairs to get to my class. When I found them I ended up sitting and waiting for 20 minutes. Class was fine. There was a substitute in for the actual professor who couldn't make it for whatever reason. The room had about 140 people, most of whom were females.
I had a two-hour break so I went to the bookstore. I couldn't find my weather book but I picked up the Japanese packet and math book. However it turns out that Keith bought the book last year so I'm using his old book and returning mine. Fortunately I didn't unwrap it! However, I still am going to have to buy a code in order to go online and submit online work. And the code is an outrageously stupid $53.
After that I went to Japanese class. Most of the people there I hadn't seen before, although there were three people from my old class. I was impressed/happy that the teacher spent a good first half of the class talking all in Japanese, although it was just her talking and not really asking for any responses. Hopefully things will get better with that. After going over the syllabus and everything we need for the class (which we already know and have from last semester...) she handed out a worksheet and told us to find someone we didn't know and ask them questions on it. We also did this last semester too. I partnered up with the girl next to me named Alice. I knew this class was going to be great when I told the girl my name and was greeted with "じ...argh, katakana... um... can you write it for me?" I can understand not remembering ジ but she couldn't even remember hiragana ま either. :( There is one guy in the class who has never taken Japanese before, but he used to live in Japan. He's so excited to be finally taking a class. :3 I think he was the one who got 3rd place in the speech contest. He looks familiar.
Then I went to my Language and Gender class. But I have to drop it because the final exam was on May 2nd and she won't let anyone take it before or after. Hopefully I'll be taking it another semester since I bought the book. Kaylee is apparently also taking the class so I'm letting her use the book. Keith is using both my religions books because he's taking the same class that I did.
Then I went to my weather class. It's HUGE. Around 300 people. And the desks/chairs swivel. :D
In replacement of my Language and Gender class, I'm now in Intro to Linguistics. |
