Did you ever hear the story about the baby elephant? My Dad told me this one. If you tie a baby elephant up by the leg he will struggle & struggle to get free. Once he learns he can't break the rope, he stops trying. Even when the elephant grows to a huge giant, it still thinks it can't break the rope. Its trainer never has to increase the bond. The elephant is trapped, but just in its mind. It can really break the rope any time it wants to. And although I hate that I am the elephant in this metaphor - I have to admit - I am sick of the chains I've created in my mind. My weight doesn't control me. Steve doesn't control me. These are just thin ropes that I haven't tried hard enough to break.
