this is going to be an awful hurricane season Work yesterday was fun, we went to the pool and I actually think I got some sun. The gash on my leg was doing well until Robbie decided to climb on Marshall's back. That would have been fine if Marshall wasn't on my back, but he was and my leg got kicked a few times. Then Robbie proceeded to try and flip me by grabbing, of course, my injured calf. Oh well, I knew something would happen to it, but I wasn't going to sit out two weeks in a row at the pool so eh. The important thing though, is he did not succeed in trying to flip me and, once I threw Marshall off, I flipped him, so yay for that. We had the dinner party last night and I think it went well. Once I got home from work Jennifer and I worked on the salad and the fruit. I carved a watermelon basket that turned out decent; the handle broke but I fixed it with toothpicks. Pete cooked the meal, which was very good and his friends came over to eat. They were really nice, and I'm glad I got to meet them. We were suppose to watch a movie while eating, but that didn't happen...I don't mind since I never actually picked the movie like I was told to do. Pete's friends had to leave after dinner, but Jennifer, Rach, Pete and I played cranium. I love the game, even though I'm not very good at it. So all in all I'd say it went well and I'm looking forward to next week's. This morning I actually only hit the snooze button once, and then got up to go running. I have come to the realization that I am severely out of shape. I've never been a good runner, but I was at least decent in high school when I was forced to do it. Oh well, I made it down to Coleman and back to Calvary (about 2 miles) then I had to stop and walk a bit, so I walked to JD's and ran back to the house. It was a 2.5 mile trip and I probably ran about 2.25 of it. Granted someone walking could probably beat me because I'm so slow, but I figure I'm probably making 10 or 11 minute miles...not awful, but definitely not great either. I did a little jump roping after a short rest and then showered. Mom called around 8:30 and apparently tropical storm Cindy was worse than suspected. She came in around 4 this morning and the folks feel we've probably lost the pier. The storm was headed for Texas at one point, but ended up coming in Louisiana and then headed up east along the coast to us. SO she came in with high tide and we were on the east side (not good!). Anyway, dad will be sick since he just finished rebuilding the pier about three weeks ago, but that's the chance you take I guess. Now I think I'm going to take a 15 minute nap before heading out to work. Yes, exercise is supposed to give you energy, but I think it works best when you've slept a decent amount before it. I do feel much better now since I went running; I just have to keep it up. The goal is 4 or 5 miles eventually...we'll see. |
